I was working at Disney Animation in 1991 when Steve was brought in to teach life drawing. He soon showed himself to be the most articulate and logical teacher I had ever met, and I advanced tremendously due to his help. We were both young fellas then-- Steve was a bodybuilder-- now we both have white hair.

I've only been doing this for a short while. When I started I made a decision not look at other artists or follow any of the rules. I thought my own thoughts and made my own conclusions. These days my approach is solid and I allow myself to listen and look at other artists. Turns out that what I think and how I work is almost exactly how other artist think and work. What Steve says I say all the time to my students! Perhaps Robert Henri was right when he referred to the "brotherhood"
