Very helpful tutorial, my art class is doing a 2 point perspective and I'm doing a Pokémon themed city.

Why you use My Channel´s logo on this video?

Sorry, I was looking for a reference for a circle in a square. It’s there to give a visualization of what I’m showing how to draw. I did not know it was a logo.

I just can't see the sphere. All I see is a circle with 3 shapes in it. And the box/lines of the cube just make it look even weirder.

In drawing circles in perspective, one ends up drawing an ellipse to fit whatever angle attached to a plane. To understand this better, one needs to understand how to properly draw an ellipse to fit in just one side of the cube. With reflection to the sphere, the artists is drawing 3 ellipses midway on each plane or side in X, Y, and Z axis. Well, that is clear as mud but simply knowing how to draw a circle on an angle, "an ellipse" is a good place to start.

this was horribly confusing

Not to be harsh, but I wouldn't put "sphere" in the title if you're constructing it from a random box and not an actual cube... It's misleading.

Not a random box, its an actual cube. A cube as it looks like the sides are fairly equal. A cube: "a symmetrical three-dimensional shape, either solid or hollow, contained by six equal squares". I myself don't find this misleading. Basically taking the middle sections of the cube to get the 3 ellipses figured out to give a guideline of the cube. Later with the help of the cube, one can further draw other planes and continue to divide the cube up into more sections providing as artists we don't get lost in all the construction lines. ;-)

Terrible demonstration to be honest, first the two vanishing points are to close to one another which results In having an exaggerated / deformed perspective, then some of your verticals are not vertical at all. Finally what you drew is not a cube. Too many lines and colours overlapping each other, it’s a total mess.

Thank you for your feedback. In class I explain the differences between a fantasy perspective drawing with vanishing points on the page vs reality where the vanishing points sit at 90 degrees from each other. We talk a lot about the cone of vision. This is just a conceptual video to get you thinking about how to make a sphere. I’m sorry it was not useful for you. Hope you find what you need elsewhere on the internet.
