I really like how the God of War series twisted the whole Giant Wolf story. In God of War: Ragnarok, it was revealed that Týr had his arm bitten off by Garm, not Fenrir. Instead of Týr dying at Ragnarok via Garm, Týr grew his arm back using a workaround that involved the Egyptian underworld, the Duat, which is why you'll notice that Týr has Egyptian hieroglyphs on his left arm.

Some of the more Southern cultures associated with the Norse(down in the more Germanic regions) also saw Tyr as a rival of Odin.
@Kiba_a.z2 ай бұрын
Yes, some scholars of Norse mythology are even suggesting that originally Tyr was main God of Norse myth, due to his name having the same root as that of Zeus and Jupiter. And only later on Odin gained importance and popularity and replaced Tyr.

I always have to laugh because anytime you hear mythological lore, you CANNOT expect anything to be normal. In this case, I'm thinking "huh, Tyr's story doesn't sound too crazy or unusual, something normal for once". Two seconds later, he's said to have a 900-headed grandmother. And I'm left wondering why I expected anything ordinary from mythology lmao

I'm interested in writing a norse mythology inspired story, but everyone is human. And there is a theory among mythology nerds that Garm is actually a name for Fenrir! So in the final battle (paralleling Ragnarok) Tyr gets locked in combat with Fenrir, and actually calls him Garm before he dies, revealing it to have been his childhood nickname.

Fenrir and Tyr are NOT friends tf??🤣 The only reason this son of Loki is even near them at all is so they can capture him and prevent Ragnarok. Tyr put his arm in Fenrirs mouth because Fenrir wouldnt let then put the flinsy looking rope on him unless one of the gods numver put a hand in his mouth (guaranteeing amputation if the rope is a magical item) there was no friendly betrayal in that myth
