Susan. your comments are much appreciated. I am a graduate art professor and water color artist. your 10 minute updates on style are a great flash back to my earlier college days. I just love it. My grandkids are now taking your 10 minute courses on art style. its direct, media savy and they love it. thank you a ton.

Thank you Susan for presentation historical interconnections of Art Nouveau. I was always fascinated by its beauty and subtlety. Alphonse Mucha is unparallel with his style of combination of feminine beauty with nature. Very innocent and powerful.

Thank you so much for your interest and support. I am also a big fan of Mucha - and Art Nouveau. I hope you watch more of my programs. They all focus on historical interconnections.

Great job! Just be careful with your music for future videos- it was a bit too loud at some points and it was hard to hear you.

Wow! Nice connection to the art nouveau resurgence in the 60s and 80s- which I hadn't noticed.

Thank you. This is by far the best narrative about the style, "Art Nouveau". Not just another "Music Video???", but, putting a history behind the new style, its influences, and to a degree some of the main artists and finally, where this new style is heading. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Great topic, well-presented. But... what's with the edgy soundtrack with heavy backbeat?? I find it very distracting, and a bad fit for the subject matter. (Just my 2¢.)

Yes, I know. I did this video about 8 years ago before I had access to better music soundtracks. But...my recent videos do not suffer from that problem. You should take a look at them! Thanks for your comments.

Very good, a lot said in a short time space. Perhaps subsequent videos can describe the furnishings of Emille Galle, Louis Majorelle, Eugene Gaillard, etc. I build furniture for 30 + years, I have worked many thousands of hours building the most complex forms, so, I say with experience, that French Art Nouveau furnishings are the most technically demanding of all furnishings to build and the most sublimely, intoxicatingly beautiful furniture in the entire history of mankind. Art Nouveau furniture was the pinnacle of the craft of furniture making, after Art Nouveau furnishings, finished off by World War one, and subsequent socialism, furniture making declined into quick and easy, and commercialism until the memory of truly brilliant design faded from the minds of all except for very, very few people.

Sometimes I miss people's comments and do not reply. But...I am planning on doing a video on the very topic you suggest. I LOVE Art Nouveau furniture. One of my great regrets in life is that I did not buy it when I was young, and it was being sold dirt cheap in every junk shop and Goodwill store. Everything you say about the craftsmanship and design is totally correct. Thank you for your comment and for watching my programs. I just posted a new one today!

@@susaneuler9462 I would be surprised if an Art Nouveau piece carfted by a top tier French or belgian maker would be found in a goodwill store. Perhaps shortly after Europe was devastated by World war 2 on up until the internet arrived pieces of high quality could be found in European shops and less so in large American urban centers. The average American, myself included knew little or nothing od Art nouveau until the internet, THEN anyone with any sensitivity to what is beautiful and sublime in the world could not pass by giving no attention to this gentle, soul meltingly beautiful art form. Art Nouveau was a dream, a dream of the Nouveau Riche, made so by the industrial revolution. 15 years ago, I special ordered an old book written about Art Nouveau. At the time that it was happening, it was looked upon with derision and contempt by the old guard. Probably with little sincerity since most people will not speak their REAL feelings, they will say whatever garners the approbation of whoever they are kissing up to, generally with the end in view of gaining access to some rich person's wallet. But Art Nouveau was a dream, a gentle, exhuberant, youthful imagery, A childlike fascination with what an older mind passes by as ordianry, such as dragonlies, snails, chickory leaves. No more did furniture and architecture need to be rectilinear as such things as lifeless crystals in their rectilinearity, but curved, all living things are curved, Art Nouveau was about life in it's prime and best form,. Really classical Greco Roman was the same, no old men or old women serving as pillars in aedifices, it was the Temple of Maidens, in prime of life, a visual escape from the sad reality of their day to day existence. Only a gentle soul can concieve of or appreciate Art Nouvea. Intoxicatingly beautiful, very few souls in our day can appreciate it. Thank you for your reply, very few "get it" For 3 years now, my Art Nouveau computer stand is in my head, but my body is suffocated in attempting to keep up with my customer's artisan cane orders. @@rareandwonderfull Actually, you would be surprised at what I have found in Goodwill stores, and other similar shops. But, of course, not an Art Nouveau piece of furniture by a top notch designer, although there is always hope! But there used to be lots of good quality pieces by American designers. But even though I knew what they were, and admired them (I've been an art historian for more years than you may think) I did not want them in my house because they did not fit with what I wanted at the time. Now I really regret it! You might want to look at some of my newer videos. I just posted one yesterday: Four Artists Who Revolutionized Art." And a few months ago I posted one on "How to Become an Art Expert." Plus many, many more. I think you will enjoy all of them (not to brag).
