NoNEED2Mind the great Nesta did not silence Lionel Messi. Watch the game and you will see that Messi absolutely dominated not just Nesta and Milan defence, but he dominated the game. The great Nesta has praised Lionel Messi stating how unplayable he is. Such is the class and understanding Nesta has that Messi is Alien like and was untouchable when they met. Prime Nesta would have been better. Again, Watch the actual match between Milan and Barca. Messi was unstoppable, goals or no goals. Defending was more pure and physical in the days past. But don't watch videos and complain. Those who talk much about how soft this and that are and how good it was back then can't even put up with "today's"defenders in your little Sunday leagues.

90's - 2006 was the golden era of football. We had the opportunity to watch great striker that will fall & rise up when fouled, Midfielders with mesmerising skill & commitment and defenders that were actual defender cantenaccio style. people think that defending is dead. It's not. what you see in this video is legends winning the ball successfully before having any physical impact with the player. I see a lot of this happening in current generation too. But I have to concede that playacting really makes it hard for defenders to play phsyically.
