Also, if you roll in any situation, you have a few frames of vulnerability before you're actually safe. So trying to roll out of blockstrings or rapid hits like Fox's drill, Ness' PK Fire, or Charizard/Bowser's fire breaths will cause you to take damage. Ultimate seems to focus more on shield pressure, sort of like Melee, but more emphasis on shields in general.

Hey Izaw, awesome guide. I just want to point a small technicality: in part 3 and part 5, you say to instant dash attack by pressing control stick and c-stick together left or right. From this I'd interpret that you can input them on the same frame and get an instant dash attack, which is simply not true. It's easy to test that if you do this input on exactly the same frame, you get a tilt. I guess you can get away with saying this because a movement input on the control usually register before a c-stick input; a slight tilt on the control stick inputs movement, but slight tilt on the c-stick doesn't input a tilt. However, if you very very quickly smash both control and c-stick, you will get tilts consistently. So if people are misled by this video thinking you can control stick and c-stick at the SAME TIME to instant dash attach, as they improve and their inputs get quicker, they'll start messing up instant-dash attacks more. So it's important to point out you need to hold left or right at least one frame before your c-stick input.

Speaking as a beginner watching this video, you should definitely move the part about controls to the FIRST video. I've been playing for a few weeks now and I've been racking my brain the whole time trying to figure out how expert players achieve the precise control needed to differentiate between tilt attacks and smash attacks using the standard controls. Now I get it. Of course they can do it because no one USES the standard controls!
@lloydaran Жыл бұрын
11:59 it can and most likely will lead to nairs WITH momentum, as the window is inconsistent, as well as being prone to just getting a dash attack or the very tilt you input in the first place.

It's especially good for Samus that instant dash attack was fixed to be a stick and c-stick combination. I'm also glad even Zer0 admits Samus was buffed. I'm killing with her fair much more often now. And every time I fight someone with less recovery then me, like Wolf, our disadvantage states seem very much lop sided where I bomb mix up fine and tank damage fine while they greatly fear multiple fairs sending them off stage to a bomb to up tilt killing edge gaurd or even charge shot killing edge gaurd on their vulnerable recovery.

You can't normally walk past someone on the ground, but it should be noted that you *can* do so if the opponent is intangible. In other words, you can still run past someone who's spotdodging to, say, Pivot Grab them. Also, if you have two buttons assigned to shield, you can hold both of them to easily tilt your shield as well, as an alternative to holding shield and B.

Great video! You think you know a lot, but there's always going to be that one extra thing you didn't realize. For me, it was discovering the instant dash attack. Just as a bit of an add-on, you can also set your taunt buttons to shield to help you mash faster. Since taunts are disabled in online, there's no reason not to do this at least for an online control scheme.
@Jackaljkljkl3 жыл бұрын
Knowing the range, active time and special rules of every opponents moves is critical. There is no point spending months learning this complex tech if you don't know that, for example, Byleth's Down B will break your shield in one hit, can change direction and has super armour. Play at least two hours ss every character in the game against the CPU to learn their moves and how to think like a player of that character - especially the DLC, who have some powerful moves that can destroy the unaware.
