so this video took much longer to put together than expected but i'm very happy to finally show you my new art studio. if you have any questions, suggestions or ideas, feel free to send them to me.
i'd would like to thank my friend Gisele for planting the seed of this idea that became a wonderful reality and for her support, and also Genevieve and Ursula for supplying elbow grease and ideas -- it is all very much appreciated.

Thank you for sharing your beautiful studio with an awesome view and insanely great light with us! I have have a very similar stool that goes with my 62x 40 something vintage drafting table that I have set up as high as it will go which is several inches above counter height because I’m 6 ft tall an stand to work. I have a counter the length of two walls, a shelf unit at the end of one counter and a 4 door almost floor to ceiling cupboard at the end of the other counter, the third wall has those cubby storage units the length of the wall, the 4th wall has a double door closet, and the drafting table is in the center of the room to access it from all sides. We just finished the room last month. 😊

I just loved your art studio tour. Loved all your ideas. I to live alone but my craft room is in my main bedroom and I took the smaller bedroom. and I would do exactly what you did if my room was not big enough. My eyes went big and round and my mouth said oooohhh aahhh when I saw your drawer of all this silks lol I to have that addiction to wanting every colour in the rainbow and I did that with the twinkling h2o and the primary elements powders that you can get from the same place as the silks. I just love colour!! I am sorry I do not have any lighting suggestion for you. Take care and have fun crafting and thanks for sharing. Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!! Mary katherine

I love LOVE that your studio is front and center in your home! That's as it should be :) You need to have all those Silks and glitters in those drawers whether you use them all or not. When you opened them I became instantly happy. It's like drawers full of antidepressants! Those islands are fabulous. They're a work surface AND storage. Okay, I'll get those for my studio too. I already planned to use Kallax units and Alex drawers so seeing yours in action was a huge help. Now I know how to arrange them and what to put in each drawer. I just need to pick up some foam core and I'm all set. See? My plan to just do what you do is working out great!!

CeeCee, your studio is fabulous !!!! I know you worked so hard on getting it together to your liking and what works for you.. I can't wait to do mine when we purchase our new home.. I know what you mean by having a small room that doesn't work for you, that's what I'm dealing with now..but, I know my time will come.. Btw, I have the small drawer with the Silks, I agree but, it is eye candy!! Lol.. Looking forward to your tour of your other room and how you organized that one.. Sending you hugs from Florida!!

Just told my husband that I'm now moving all of my craft things into the lounge and that he will have to watch TV in the spare bedroom. He didn't seem to keen. - I can't think why LOL. Seriously though. Thats a great layout you've got. I love all the furniture. I already have 4 of the Alex drawers and I don't know how I'd manage without them. I do wish I had more space though, but that's life. xx

Cee Cee, I have watched so many studio tours in preparation for my craft room being completed. Your's is the first one that made sense to me as far as the organization of products. Once I am able to start moving into my space, I am going to replay this video over and over while I get my room put together. You have made great use of space, have great storage tips and I love the way you organized everything. Do you have die cutting machines and supplies? I am curious about how you store them if you do. Thank you so much for your help and ideas. Now I can't wait to get my finished space put together.

I recently moved and currently setting up my new studio/office (taking over a bedroom in our house, which is under renovations) and just found your space set up and ideas really resonated with me and I so enjoyed seeing it--thank you for sharing it! I know you had to move it all back into the smaller bedroom temporarily to accommodate extra family members, but I loved how your living room windows lit up the space. Anyway, I thought using your living room was a brilliant set up for someone who lives alone!

I really like the ideas for your new studio. Now that both of my children have left for college, I am planning to convert one of their bedrooms into a studio which can also function as a guest room if necessary. You have some great ideas. I like the use of the Kitchen Cabinet and Storage Units from IKEA as well. I am so glad that you are settling into your new space. Overhead lighting using the OTT bulbs may work. Smaller OTT lamps are also available as task lighting if you have a crafting party. Take care, Sharlene

Just lovely, especially those perfect skinny IKEA drawers! I don't live alone (yet!) but when I built my house I put in a loft under the cathedral 'barn: ceiling big enough to make most of it a working space. Still not big enough!! That's because I do quiltung, and holy moley, there's never enough room for...more fabric. I got the container cubbies, perfect for my storage, but those cubby/drawer units are very desirable so congratulations! You've made everything so accessible and so compact, looking right outside. Just some patio furniture and some greenery, all set. I did have to laugh, and instantly adopt your description of yourself as a 'collector ' instead of 'impulse-buyer-who-can't-stop-until-she-has-them-all' accumulator. Which is me, ergo: material, fishing equipment, fishing lure creation components (!!!), books, little tables, green glass, dvds, quilt tops, blahblahblah, etcetcetc. And since I'm now caught up in watercolor....paints and brushes and paper and glitter and......ack. And speaking of watercolor stuff, where the heck is all THAT?!! Shelves to the ceiling in your 'second bedroom'. And the lighting over your studio? Have you considered a chandelier, maybe stained glass? There are rafters and/or beams overhead, you canhang it from a sturdy hook and run the wire through a looping chain (gold, of course) down behind the storage unit - it would be skinny enough. Just like the olden days. The sixties and early seventies, I mean. Just a thought. I love your heart, your joy, and your soul. And your art! Be well, stay safe, think good thoughts. 💜

I actually help artists organize their studios. You have some great ideas you have gathered and used for yourself, in great ways. I will now adopt some of those great ideas. You have an awesome working space now. My studio is huge and in the basement, the size of a lg den. I changed the bulbs for the lighting in the studio are daylight bulbs and they work wonderfully. They are not pretty but it works for me. There were covers for the lights which I removed. So if you can go to a lighting store and ck out all the light of the lighting units to find what would best fit your needs, that would be the way I'd proceed for lighting. Hope that helps.

I know I’m a little late to the party here, but (like I mentioned in a comment to one of your other videos recently) I’m on a CeeCee bender. And, I want you to know that I have a tremendous amount of supplies like you do/did (I’m sure you have more now because you need them - and it’s been 4 years since you posted this lol) but the difference is that you actually are doing great things with what you have and it’s always so neat and organized. I attempted to “soothe” myself with copious and myriad art supplies after my husband and father died but I was so despondent, I ended up wasting most of what I had spent so much money on. I still have massive amounts of jewelry making supplies and tools, but watercolor is my obsession now. I’m really proud of you. You are following the right path. Don’t ever be ashamed of that. This is what you’re meant to do. Blessings to you CeeCee. :)

Oh wow! I LOVE your happy place! What time do you want me over? lol.... Seriously thought, I think your idea is just PERFECT! I also told my husband and our two teenagers (after I watched your video for the 3rd time) that if I had the chance to do something like you have done I would so do it! I just think every part of your studio is just so pleasing to anyone that is even the littlest bit crafty or artistic. I think your view rocks BTW. I also loved seeing that you store your ink pads upside down. I have always done that and no one seems to remember hearing or reading that it is best that way to keep the pad well inked. Thanks so much for sharing. I truly did enjoy it. Hugs Lisa G

CeeCee, What a fantastic space! I am a woman who lived alone and currently I am in a 2 bedroom apartment, but will probably have to downsize to a 1 bedroom soon, and I would be doing the same thing, taking my "living room" and creating a studio! I also love many of your organizing ideas, especially how you store your stencils! I MUST find and album and inserts like those. I have never found a storage solution for my stencils that I liked and worked and this looks great. I don't have any fantastic ideas for you about lighting, but even if you don't have electrical in the ceiling you can get a ceiling fixture and have the wires swagged down to an outlet. I had to do that when I lived in Florida and needed a ceiling fan/light fixture. It isn't too bad looking and it gets the job done. I hope someone else will have a good suggestion for you as to what type of light fixture. Enjoy your new home and your new studio space. Thanks so much for the tour, as well as for the wise words about purchasing everything in every color. I spent way too much that I didn't have doing that and regret it every day. Hopefully others can learn from the mistakes we've made!

Maureen, I'm very happy with my studio and don't regret my decision. Living alone gives you some freedom, huh?! I have been toying with a few ideas for the lighting and of course the dangling of the wire is something that really doesn't bother me. There is always a way to make it look nice. My big problem is the quality of the lighting. So I have to find something that will work efficiently. Good luck with your downsize and have a wonderful day!

yes, a track or i was also consider a truss but the big problem is a concrete ceiling so i would have to run a wire from the corner and bring it to the middle of the run. that is my biggest issue. but i'll find a way!

***** I am not sure you would want to do this, but it doesn't hurt to be aware that concrete can be chiseled/sanded/drilled to your liking. If you wanted to create a channel to stash a recessed pvc pipe with wiring inside... it can be done!

Well that sucks, sorry to hear your working space had to shrink but congrats on a bigger living room! I totally get the whole, needing to make concessions. NOT implying in any way that you should do what I've usually done, which is to downgrade the "niceness" factor in favor of more space. I grew up in a small house with 2 parents and 7 siblings (not a typo) and after spending my childhood stacked on top of each other and basically shoved in a drawer to sleep, what I crave most is just space. In my case that usually means... a working class neighborhood one step above crackhead-land. LOL However, I wound up with a midcentury in super great condition, so that part is nice. but everything's a tradeoff... All the major things like roof, windows and furnace still need to be replaced.

Ceecee, Inka Gold creams often dry out, just add water, preferably the night before you plan on using them. Close lid. No need to stir, just give it a few hours to soak it in and then its good to go.

Wowsa, we were just in Montreal over your Thanksgiving weekend. I did not see a scrapbooking store??? Loved Montreal and our best dinner was at Le Mas des Oliviers. When researching that over head light, beware of the heat given off by some. We play Scrabble at Mom's and she has a very modern dining room light over the table that is Halogen and I sweat with the light on. Look into track lighting with a variety of heads. Spot lights, floods, etc... Go to a real lighting store where they know what they are selling and get your education before you buy. Congratulations on your new condo.

J'ai le gout de lacher toutes mes responsabilites et de disparaitre dans mon studio, tout petit! (j'm'escuse, c'est difficile de tapper sur un iPad en francais). Anyways, I hope you got my postcard (from Cuba) & that you're having a great day!

Mariam, your comment made me laugh! Je comprend très bien le désir de vouloir s'enfermer dans le studio de foutre toutes les responsabilités en l'air! Je n'ai pas reçu ta carte postale mais je vais aller visiter ma boîte postale cet après-midi. Have a wonderful and creative weekend!

I love you studio CeeCee, livingroom and all. I also learned a bunch of stuff about how products should be stored etc and I also chuckled when I saw all the stuff you have and it made me realize how much I have and need to do a major garage scrapping sale. I love the fact that stuff I bought 12 yrs ago has come back again lol. I was wondering though where you got the rack to store all your markers in? do copics have to be stored sideways? I also heard you mentioned to store your ink pads upside down? I think you should give live tours CeeCee and we all bring a housewarming gift ;)

Oh Mary, you're too cute! The decorative blinds I have offer privacy. I can see through a bit but they can't see me. And at night, they would see maybe a shape if i'm really close to the windows but in general they don't see anything.

I wish I had a separate room for all my art supplies and to work in. I now live in a big, open space, lots of room...but no designated area for art, and I have a parrot so I can’t use oils or pastel or any mediums that could become airborne and breathed in. Mostly I paint in my kitchen, and usually standing...not sure why, I guess because when I took art lessons as a kid, we weren’t allowed to sit, we worked standing all the time, even when just using graphite or charcoal.

What a generous tour, Ceecee, thank you. What were the little stackers you have your watercolor pens and Pitt Artist Pens in? I need some of those, but don't live near an IKEA.

So many great storage/organization ideas! I love your new place. I'm so glad you're settled and look forward to new videos. I so appreciate your humor AND your great vids! And I've missed you. Question: the lazy Susan with the Mason jars & brushes - did you secure the jars to the lazy Susan some way? I stored my brushes that way just on a top shelf but they kept falling over when I was searching for a brush.

Loved, loved, loved your video. Thank you, it was so informative. I've struggled with how to sore my twinkling h2os and have seen those skinny storage compartments so now I know I can buy one to store them, thanks! Curious about your silks? Is that silk acrylic glaze? I'm motivated to find out how those can be used, that's new to me and looks wonderful. Love your Home Depot rug too. Brilliant, Girl, Brilliant!

Silks are acrylic glazes and they are awesome. You can layer them and each color will retain its integrity. I will try to use them in an upcoming video. Have a wonderful day!

+Laurie Parente thank you, Laurie! the room measures 9' X 11' roughly, with a wall of windows. However, i have not since moved to a small bedroom because i felt the need for a living room again. the small room works for now and i was able to fit most everything in except for the 3 alex drawer units.

CeeCee, I love your studio. I was wondering if you still have all the acrylics, etc. now that you are doing so much watercolor? I'm in the process of purging my studio, and I'm trying to figure out what to make space for and what to lose. Would love to see an update! :)

I love your studio! You have given me many great tips. I am in the process of setting up my studio now. I am more advance in age and have been waiting all my life to do this. What did you shoot your video with and what editing program do you use? Thanks again for your wonderful tour. P.S. You have given me a reason to come to Canada! One day I just might come create with you! (but probably not...A girl can dream can't she?!)

+Melissa Edwards I shot this video with my old (6 years old) Panasonic HD video camera and used iMovie to edit. Now I have upgraded to another Panasonic Full HD HC-V770 and use Final Cut Pro to edit. If you do get to Canada, make sure you let me know so we can meet! I would love to be able to travel and meet you guys and that's one of my milestone that I hope to achieve one day through my Patreon campaign. Cross you fringers and wish me luck!

Silks are acrylic glazes and they are fantastic! Because they are glazes they are a bit translucent and you can layer them and still preserve the integrity of each color. I love them.

I was watching your tour again; you have so many fun products! I was wondering, do you like having your studio in your main living space? If I were you, I would have made the bedroom the studio; then you can have living area available to lounge in and have space for company. I would then purchase big comfy day bed for that smaller room & utilize that room as your bedroom. Just an idea, hope you don't mind me sharing...

+Tammy Lapointe Hi Tammy, I didn,t want to make my studio in the main bedroom as it comes with an ensuite bathroom and walk-in closet. I like the convenience of having all that in my bedroom, especially at night. Having said all that, I have now moved the studio in the smaller room while my daughter and son-in-law had to move in with me temporarily this summer. Believe it nor not, everything I had in my living room studio fit, mind you a little cramped for my style, but my idea is to destash even more. I still have too much and it bothers me. Once I get rid of 2 pieces of furniture in that studio, I'll be happy! Thanks for your comment (no I don't mind).

+creationsceecee YOU are a miracle worker (best mom's are when it comes to accommodating their children)! I can't even imagine how you did it! Once you have it the way you like; I'd LOVE to see new tour. Be fun to see what products left & what stayed. I'm new to this, so it helps to see what artists keep on hand & what products are expendable. God bless you & the kids...
