"Appreciating ways of being that I may not be a part of, or ways of being I am not familiar with. Because I think as I familiarize it with myself and help normalize it for myself, it gives me the space to help normalize it for the people around me, as well." ~Yara. This is how I feel as a supporter of the LGBT+ community. As I listen to their truths and their stories and their experiences, I can relate these things to the people around me who haven't heard their stories and paint people of the community with a broad stroke and generalize and are bigoted towards them.
