ArtBreak: WMAS Artist Highlight - Vicki Nelson & Michael Pfleghaar

During this ArtBreak, meet local artists Vicki Nelson and Michael Pfleghaar, whose paintings are featured in the 2024 West Michigan Area Show!
Vicki Nelson’s painting The Howards was selected for this year’s Art League Award. As an artist, Nelson is interested in how humans interact with their environments. In her work, she seeks to examine and reveal her subjects’ interior experiences.
Michael Pfleghaar also explores human experience in his work, but he does so through a focus on non-human objects as revelatory artifacts. Works such as Indoor Outdoor seek a delicate balance between realism and abstraction by flattening space, utilizing mixed media, and masking.
