I meet Mr Sanford Meitner at the age of about 14 while working at the Bronx Zoo. I lived in the Bronx River Projects and my father got me a summer job their. I was working the parking lot. This is truly an amazing man that talked about his recent operation after a car accident from detail to detail and revealed that he was an acting teacher. I was so amazed that his interest of me was so profound. However at that age I did not realize who I was talking to. He even gave me information that I never use to contact him. This man can truly see and recognize the essence of a person. Thank you so much as I see you in 2023 to remember your patients talking to me. You are amazing. Bruce

I'm taking a meisner class and it'd amazing how much you can really miss of what you're seeing of the person. the teacher said the same thing as Sandy did: "You missed something." To reveal the truth of what's in front of you, you must be open and you must have a heightened sense. Great stuff!

I trained in meisner for a year and now I'm learning a different technique. I was given a scene to do with my partner who probably never even hears of meisner. I think its absurd to try to teach her the repetition exercise, but I want to, just to connect to my scene partner. I'm sure that I'll run into more scene partners trained in other technique, so I wonder how to use Meisner in that situation.

VigilantRebel87 she'd reply with something on the lines of 'that disgusted you' and he'd follow with 'that disgusted me' until something else broke the chain in which they'd continue the exercise but change what's being said. it requires an actor to be fully concentrated to the other actor!

@@MovieswithKennyK He dismissed her quickly because she didn't do it right. They're playing the three moment game. She screwed up the third moment but he fixed it later. It's supposed to flow a lot more smooth than this and launch you into repetition.

Finally Meisner speaks for himself...most of the videos talking about Meisner and his technique are interpretations based on who knows what as told by who knows who. Truthfully, unless you actually studied under Meisner, you wouldn't really know what his technique was because it was constantly Morphing as he taught it as he was trying to improve upon it (as he should have been). Unfortunately, Meisner is dead and so is his technique. He would undoubtedly roll over in his grave if he knew how much people were using his old worn and not complete lessons 50 years after his passing. Strasberg, Adler and Meisner all were trying to perfect and simplify acting based on their understanding of Konstantin Stanislawski's technique and so to carry on teaching exactly what they taught years later without any attempt to improve or further simplify is just superficial plagiarism at best, and simply exploits the incomplete works of dead people based on their reputations since most of today's acting teachers are too lazy or scared to come up with their own technique.

If you can't hear him.... it's your problem; not his. He didn't need you as a student, you needed him as a teacher and he didn't advertise.
