Why is this song on my true and absolute top 10 of all time. It doesn't make sense..................just makes me so emotional every single time after all these years. So simple a pure .............. maybe my fav group in Artful Dodger (although I think was only Mark by this time) and my fav singer - Mel Blatt has the most unique voice. So pleased to still love this song.

Wow I've not heard this in at least 15 years but what gem! A lovely blast from the past, it's easy to forget how classy urban pop/RnB/Garage music was back then. No nudity, vulgarity or violence, just catchy melodies and nice vocals...job done. Good times!

Girl, that’s absolutely not true. All saints had endless amounts of songs about explicit sex , but you and many others always try to cherry pick songs like this and invalidate today’s music… embarassing
@TakemesomewhereniceMCR4 ай бұрын
@@RareMusicSpam no they didn't - it was about self discovery and empowerment, lost love, desire. Maybe if you dig deep enough you can find some double entendre in say Pure Shores but all are very thinly veiled. That being said Booty Call is flipping rude, but hardly explicit - we're not talking WAP here.
@RareMusicSpam4 ай бұрын
@@TakemesomewhereniceMCR they had a song called boogie call which is totally about the concept of sex and even mentions bringing a condom, they also have a song called “I know where it’s at” which isn’t really about partying, then they have a song called “All Hooked Up” which, you know, is about that. Then we have a song called “Let’s get started” that literally said “baby there only you and me, I got what you beed”. You’re delusiobal

I cant believe this came out in Uk OVER 2 decades ago but still sounds so fresh. To this day I play this in car and get a nod from other motorists or people in streets appreciating a classic tune. UkGarage left behind some concrete classic tracks for us too still listen to today. Because of negative media coverage the sound and culture was put in the bin. Sad...

I think that artful dodger definitely paved the way for artists like disclosure.
@desbest42 жыл бұрын
I disagree. Artful Dodger had crossover appeal for both electronic music fans and pop fans but any true electronic music fan who also listens to electronica (downtempo instrumental electronic music, not dance music) wouldn't listen to Disclosure as they're more poppy and commercial. Artful Dodger would NEVER make a song like Latch, You Watch Your Step and You and Me. Artful Dodger were more experimental compared to the music at the time of 2000. They had a more traditional arrangement that was suited to a live band which shyed away from the more electronic sounding music all the time, although their more slower songs didn't exactly sound like the R&B being pushed by Alliyah, Ashanti, Brandy, Tweet, Nivea, R Kelly, Mario Winans, Omarian, Usher, John Legend. Also DIsclosure are more "deep house" and apart from their Control song their attempts at making garage suck. Garage originated from house which originated from disco so garage has always had a glowing, soft and meek sound with slinky drums like a fishbone. With Disclosure their music sounds more hurried, aggressive and grating, so people would think they like drum n bass music as they can't get the swing, syncopation, tonality, pacing and drums right.

Mel Blatt captured the magic of her voice and delivered the most memorable solo all saints song just at the right time. I remember this song it is so pleasant to hear and has a memorable tune that has a timeless quality. The other solo efforts sound a bit dated.. but I was surprised by the Appletons. Those girls were grossly underrated...for their vocal capabilities and harmonies and ofcourse their looks.. they were kept at the backend always with Mel and Shaz always fronting the Group..that was the major reason why I felt that All Saints didn't have the staying power because they failed to let the Appleton sisters shine even in their latter singles they were mainly resorted to glorified back up vocalists/dancers, something that Natalie Greatly resented, with Shaznay calling the shots due to her writing prowess and treating them very unfairly due to her own narrow mindedness. I guess she felt that the sisters were riding on her talents and success and were easily replaceable and it was Mel and Nat who were the real all saints which is why a casual admirer from back in the day still has trouble telling them apart or recalling their accents or personalities which were also mysterious, spoilt Party girls known for the men they dated. With success this gap between the 4 widened further instead of making room to give them more opportunities... Which ultimately resulted them to split at the peak of their success And canceling their upcoming tour and the money that it would have potentially made them . The spice girls always shared the lines equally among each other and no matter what platform it was ... They always shared equal space for interviews, song verses, to even award show speeches split into an even five . You remember every girl with their British accent and distinct personality traits they let naturally shine with finesse. The spice girls will always be no 1 girl band for me. They were cuter than All Saints. And so polished. All saints were a little too rough around the edges at the time when they were required to up the notch and make hay, they weren't consistently visible or didn't pick the right opportunities to develop as skillful entertainers because one person was too stubborn to see others delivering their art to the public and be adored equally. This usually causes many bands to break up and often realise too late what the other was capable of and by then it's a case of too little too late. SPICE Girls had a good thing going... I just get so frustrated because Geri left at the worst possible time.. when it was about to get soooo good. And two of them got pregnant. The spice girls handled their PR masterfully and turned every negative story into a positive and kept their image squeaky clean and being respectful of other bands and each other...even when they were being catty...it was done it good taste...and seldom below the belt..
