Bob....... Yes indeed in all respect. I just had a glims of the beginning and couldn't stop till the end. When she counter questions him in the end , he should have been left speechless shamed and dropped his head and unable to answer. The answer was obvious. But with him saying "no" openly spoilt the climax. If he openly said "no" why did he go back to her ? He should have been unable to give that obvious answer. All three were the right choice for their roles. Qudos to the producers and directors.

I had only heard of Shabana Azmi, but watching her in a film, that too like Arth is nothing sort of a wonderful experience... I would just say that this movie should be watched for at least just one scene at 1:43:15, in a so called progressive 21st century where movies like Animal earns thosand of crores it is so nice to realise that back in 80s something like Arth was made... Kudos to everyone involved in the making of this gem of a film...

My request to Bhatt Saab is that, after this many years, he release the film without any scenes deleted. As he expressed in an interview that Smita has given true meaning to the "other lady" and performed more intensely than he ever imagined and was ready to do so without any payment because the story resonated with her. The world deserves to see the story with impact as it was written and performed. It can be the best tribute to Smita Patil Ji, more than any award.

I always used to look down upon 80s movies.. due to low technical values of production.. but this movie transcends the technical aspects and story and script directly hit my heart.. A friend with a golden heart narrated this brilliant story so beautifully. How it had affected shen she watched it in such a young age.. .I couldn't wait to watch the movie in all its glory.. each scene was captivating.. the movies made from the heart reach our hearts easily. What a wonderful ending to such a heart wrenching storyline.. it had me in tears... especially the last scene..The serene beautiful coastside view and feel..where she said a few wonderful things 1. Maa banne ka mauka.. tanhaae mitane ka mauka.. just wow.. what a wonderful way to look at life 2. The way she says she's got a new meaning to her life 3. The way he let's her go accepting the fact that she doesn't need anyone. Wow 4. How he encourages her not to look back.. There are million meaning that can be derived of Rajs love for Pooja. I wish deep inside Rajs heart would not be broken . But that's the beauty of amazing love stories.. they are meant to be different.. Conclusion: I learnt that a woman's journey is far more difficult than we men make out to be.. How Pooja achieved a place of peace above everything else... I must say - listening to the story from my friend for the first time .. hit me harder than the movie.. and the movie really hit me hard.. I wish we could see more such movies with deeper meanings.

Shabana ji and Kulbhushan jis raw acting in Arth and the movie itself is still nothing short of a masterpiece. They are both seen together very shortly in JP Duttas Umrao Jaan remake when she comes to take Umrao to Sheesh Mahal and you would never tell that almost 40 years ago now they created such heart wrenching drama together. Life really is so strange. The way Inder broke 7 years of marriage so easily and ignored Pooja as something irrelevant in this song, Shabana had the upper hand and ignored Kulbhushan who had a minute irrelevant role in Umrao. Almost as though life reached full circle

my mom and grandma always listened to the songs from this movie and cried while doing so, making me wonder what it was about it… all my mom said to me at that time was i’ll only understand this when i grow up. i love all the songs from this movie and decided to watch it. and i have to say, it is heartbreaking, crushing and the rawest depiction of emotions. i am in love

I am surprised Rohini Hattangdi accepted this small role. An NSD grad...and a great talent. The role is significant in the movie but not enough to do justice to her talent. Regardless she did an impeccable job of it. Also amazing is the little girl. My heart broke for her. There must be a million of them in this world 🥺
