Hirzuen in his prime was considered the strongest of his generation and the strongest Hokage of all time. He held the moniker of "God of Shinobi" like Hashirama. In his old age he was the strongest of the reigning Kage - according to Kabuto. They did Hirzuen dirty tbh by not showing off his full potential.

Imagine watching the two that created the very place you call home (literally) and trained you, bestowed it upon you to watch over be brought back from the dead, and used as puppets to do the bidding of your former lost student. The pain that Hiruzen had to have been feeling during that is unreal. Feelings of failing both the predecessors, failing your student, failing the village. Brutal.

I have learned so many things from naruto. When orochimaru revived hokage 1,2,3,4 one of them told hiruzen you have trained a great ninja talking about orochimau. i think it is because he lived long enough to train and Master all the techniques even forbidden jutsu. 3rd tsuchikage told madara i have lived longer than you, learned and seen more things. Like against madara and obito, hiruzen could use kage bushin to have 4 bodies and could counter any basic nature of chakra water fire wind earth at full level. What i have learned is try to last and train hard.
