I'm very tempted I have to say. I think the price is very fair, to put it into perspective a neighbour knitted me a traditional Gansey jumper a few years ago. I bought the wool which has to be 5 ply and only available in a couple of places. Fortunately she did it for free because she liked me and loves knitting but the wool alone cost £80. I think the price of this is good. Thanks for the review 👍🏻

I’m sold. Unfortunately they only have the white one in stock in my size large at the moment. Like you I’m worried about stains. Great review.

Thanks for the review. I was looking for a beanie that won’t itch and was considering one of AB’s hats. I read that low quality wool tends to cause irritation and itching due to the thickness of the fibres. Glad to hear there are no problems here. I’ve also had a really positive experience with the Campbell’s of Beauly Scotia shooting jumper. Worn almost every day for three months now, and I still haven’t needed to wash it. I’d overlooked wool for outdoor wear, but I’ve realised that in some respects, it’s more advanced than some of the modern technical materials on the market.

Glad the video was helpful. As I said in my review my skin responds badly to itchy fibres and it’s fine with AB products. I have two very high roll neck sweaters and despite the wool being untreated they are absolutely fine - I was pleasantly surprised tbh. The lighter sweaters are pretty smart too. The grey one is more a going out type, whereas the darker one I wear when I’m shooting or tatting about. Let me know how you get on if you buy anything from them.

It’s very easy to lanolise wool from a block. I do my real subs jumpers and Guernseys too. About every four years. Also be very careful with detergent and use either nil or a gentle baby shampoo if really necessary. Test the water with a thermometer. And never agititate when soaking. Store air tight and you’re away!

Is there any way of getting that advertising logo off the sleeve safely? It really compromises the classic look. Would be interested in one of these if it wasn't for that needless addition-it's pushing me towards an alternative from Andersen Andersen.

You should be able to remove it with a scalpel knife, carefully! It'll be sewn on. I removed the bright red patch my Arthur Beale fisherman's jumper came with quite easily.

Good review, want one in brown I think. Is it fairly wind proof?
@Crashbang74 Жыл бұрын
Yes they are. I’ve found myself even going without a jacket on cold days as long as I’ve a decent base layer on and I’m moving around.

How does this compare to other manufacturers? Is it similar to a submariner sweater?

Thank you for the video. I am thinking about getting one of these. Probably the dark one but the one you’re wearing is very sharp looking too. I’m concerned about the fit though. I have a lot of trouble with clothes fitting me well. My chest is a little over 45 inches but my waist and stomach area are quite small at 30 inches. But I’m not very tall at 5 ft. 8 inches. I see you’ve got the medium. If you don’t mind me asking what size is your chest? I think the medium would fit my lower torso and waist area pretty well but I think the chest might be a bit too snug. Thank you.

Nice review, I’m 6ft 3 slim build but like my clothes snug fitting but also like like length in the sleeves etc. Would you recommend medium or large?
@Crashbang74 Жыл бұрын
I’d email AB and ask them the same question. They are good at responding. I’d be guessing possibly a medium because there is a good bit of stretch in them.

Hi, great review and that looks good on you. May I ask what chest size you are? Also, if I could ask a favour, do you mind giving the shoulder width (measure from shoulder seam to shoulder seam on the back) and pit to pit measurement (put it flat and measure from armpit to armpit)? The shoulder width information is not on their size chart, and I'm trying to understand if the chest size they provide has already considered the thickness of the sweater. Thanks a lot. Oh the dilemma of buying expensive items without trying on, and shipping fee across ocean is so expensive.
@Crashbang74 Жыл бұрын
Ok, it’s 17” shoulder seam to shoulder seam and 21” from pit to pit. Mine is a medium and fits me well around the shoulders with a. It of space under the arms so it doesn’t pull while you’re working. Mines the medium and I’m medium going on large. Obviously being wool you can also give it a bit of a stretch.

how do you wash?
@Crashbang7411 ай бұрын
Well I’ve had this for two years and haven’t washed it yet! It really doesn’t smell dirty and still looks the same and feels the same. You can’t machine wash obviously… I guess if it got mucky you would just give it a light hand wash and lay out to dry (not hanging)
@ChrisD1128424 күн бұрын
I don’t think it’s that expensive. If you look at it as a percentage of your monthly income and you earn £2k a month then a £200 garment is only 20 percent. And you can save £50 a month and have it in just a quarter. I have 4 sweaters like this and they will last a lifetime. How long does a M&S sweater last for £75 or even more? Three seasons at a maximum. These are also timeless classics of menswear.

Almost $200.00 bucks for a sweater!!!! That is crazy!!! Take that $200.00 and invest it.

Compared to the price of US clothing and footwear it's a bargain, you have a product like that for life. Love traditional US goods but prices are out of my league.
