Inventor of heavy metal vocals, though Screamin Jay Hawkins brought theatricality into rock n roll, Arthur brought it into rock before people like Bowie and Alice Cooper were barely out of suits and modeling themselves on The Beatles and Stones. I think the only reason he's not fully given his due is that his unpretentious conceit free personality and mindset doesn't fit the usual rock star ego self-important template. If you don't have the right kind of ego or vanity, you tend to fall under the radar in the perception of history.

I have watched this so many times that I've lost count. As much as I enjoy the speaking bits, surely someone has the full and uninterrupted musical clip. Also interesting that Alice Cooper has repeatedly stated that without Arthur Brown there would not have been an Alice Cooper (KISS might suggest similar about themselves), the America shock rocker is nowhere near the showman that Arthur was and remains to this day. Between his tremendous voice, dynamic singing, great tunes and those very unique stage movements (the hand motions remind me of Dusty Springfield), Arthur was a one-man show. That said, he had a great band, this one with Vincent Crane, Nick Greenwood, and Carl Palmer, who replaced Drachen Theaker, the drummer who despite record company criticisms of his playing added so much to the excitement of that great album, 'The Crazy World of Arthur Brown'. But once again, where is the full clip of the performance?
