I was lucky enough to see Arthur a few years before his death, he was with a young band, Baby Lemonade, and he was outstanding, I was taken aback how good this guy was, the band were loud and tight, but his presence overshadowed the proceedings and his voice, and I think in this department the guy is well over looked, was fantastic.

Love was great with Baby Lemonade..I saw them 5 times...best concerts..

I saw them a bunch. Maybe ten times. They were LA's own, like the Doors. I remember not having a clue who the leader was. To me, it was just a band, but a great one. And to be fair, I know who made their guitars.

@@mwbrightdid you see them with the original lineup.

@@written12 I saw them in all incarnations, from the beginning until maybe the third of fourth albums.

Jay Donellan one of my favourite guitarists of all time would easily make top 5, and he is without doubt WITHOUT DOUBT the most under rated guitarist of all time.

This isn't Jay Donnellan/Lewis. It's Gary Rowles.
@written124 ай бұрын
@@neilparry4390interesting. I did think that this solo wasn’t quite up to what I knew from Four Sail. It’s hardly mediocre but it did sound somewhat different.

At least one of his albums did very well in England and he was good buds with Hendrix so for sure he had some help to get a good backline.

That lead guitarist was great. They all were! ...Dannng, 6 or 8 Hiwatt stacks...For an obscure band who never made it near as big as they deserved, SOMEBODY sure had some money...!

I own a copy of Forever Changes and I know that it's a classic and influential album, but for some reason I was never captivated by it. I prefer this phase of Love's music. It was not as groundbreaking, but it rocked harder.

This is definitely George Suronavich, right? He could really get around and round and round on that drum kit. A tasteful kind of busy playing if you know what I mean.

Gary Rowles is good but no Jay Donnellan! check out album track solo is absolutely incredible. Jazz, Blues, feel truly an all out rocker. every guitar player I ever played this for couldn't believe it would always say who is this guy. Absolutely this most underrated and unkown guitar player alive! wish he would record today. Long live Jay Donnellan thanks for all the great playing you were an inspiration to me!

I've got friends from the late 70s punk era who were huge Television and Beefheart fans every bit as much as Damned and Ramones fans. Obviously loved the Dolls, Stooges, LOVE, Electric Prunes, Yardbirds, 13th Floor Elevators too...that SWEAR by those Supra amps and...similar guitars. Raw Power (Stooges) almost entirely played on acoustic...Erik Braunn - Mosrite, Johnny Ramone - Mosrite, Shit - Robert Quine played a freaking Roland or Pravy and, Greg Ginn a Peavy PA head in Black Flag. And, Google "Jack of Diamonds" by Mance Lipscomb and, see badass
