What I love about characters like Arthur, John, Javier, and Charles is that you find people like those in real life: Arthur-a person who mistakes obedience for loyalty and eventually learn the difference between the two and better themselves. John-a person who was asking questions about someone who they were loyal to and got out. Javier-a person who knows that they're too loyal but are incapable of handling realism well. And Charles-just a person who knows the difference between loyalty and obedience but asked questions.

Arthur Morgan is a cautionary tale of blind loyalty. John Marston is a cautionary tale of how past actions do catch up with you. Sadie Adler is a cautionary tale of what can happen to you when you let vengence consume you. She wasn't a bad person, and her desire for vengence was certainly understanable if not even justified, but look at all the collateral damage, if you wanna call it that, that her actions caused while in pursuit of it. Dutch Vanderlinde: A cautionary tale to judge people by their consistent actions, not their words. Words are just that, they mean nothing unless backed up with action. Actions themsleves can be deceitful, just because someone seems decent and good does not mean they truly are so, just because they offer you their hand doesn't mean they don't have something up their sleeve. But consistent patterns of behavior reveal the truth as to who and what somebody truly is, and when you see it, believe it, even if it is hard to accept. Do not allow your pride or ego to blind you to the truth, that they were not what you thought they were. Accept you were played, and use it as a learning tool so you can do better in the future.
