As a child I was in the so called “Oregon Vortex.” It was a strangely silent area because birds didn’t fly there. The Native locals said their horses wouldn’t go in either. The trees all lean nine degrees to the north. There are other electro-magnetic anomalies as well as warping of light

Interesting.. I noticed that HDR photography at certain places (rock castles, mountain tops with sites of worship) can easily produce magical appearing color processings while normally this either doesn't work or looks somehow forced. Of course this isn't a real scientific finding, nor is it measurable. But it came to my mind that the light on these places is somewhat polarized. You call it warped.

This presentation explores a proposed plant tropism called "electrotropism," where plant growth is influenced by electric forces, in addition to the well-known phototropism (light) and geotropism (gravity). The key argument is that plants are responsive to electric fields, which play a role in their growth patterns. Key Points: Electric Field Lines of Force: Electric field lines can be mapped by measuring voltage at various points, a technique first used for tracking electricity in the ground. Plants appear to follow these lines, which change direction due to surrounding electric fields but are unaffected by soil types. The presenter argues that plants, like electric forces, curve and flow around other electrical fields. Voltage Recordings: Using specialized equipment like voltmeters and oscilloscopes, the presenter took measurements from trees and branches, observing significant voltage differences between the trunk and tips of branches. Only live branches showed substantial voltage, and the data suggest that electrons travel from the roots upwards through the tree, with higher voltage recorded at the tips. Electric Forces and Plant Growth: Through detailed calculations using Coulomb's law and Ohm's law, the presenter illustrates how electric forces acting on plant tips generate enough force to influence their direction of growth. These forces may be responsible for the elongation and direction of branch tips, potentially explaining how plants "choose" their growth path. Electron Source: A controlled experiment with a corn sprout demonstrated that electrons flow from external sources (like water) into the plant. This supports the idea that plants draw electrons from their environment. Additional tests on a cherry tree revealed negative and positive voltage differences across different parts of the tree, suggesting electron flow could be influenced by internal factors like hydrogen ions from the plant's respiration process. Conclusion: Plants display electrical properties similar to physical electric field lines of force. Branch tips' direction of growth may be influenced by electric forces, with billions of electrons flowing towards branch tips. Electrons come from external sources, and both internal and external electric fields play a role in plant growth. The evidence suggests electrotropism as a potential, overlooked plant tropism. In essence, the presentation argues that electric forces are a crucial, yet often ignored, aspect of plant growth, potentially as important as light and gravity.

Thank you. "Only live branches showed substantial voltage, and the data suggest that electrons travel from the roots upwards through the tree, with higher voltage recorded at the tips." Doesn't it follow from this the voltage difference between the branch tips and the grounded roots would possibly be highest? If electrons do indeed flow "from the ground" it might be from anions in the soil and the flow to the tips would necessitate greater presence of cations (relatively) at the tips. In the chemical reactions in the plant, both cations and anions would be generated. Is there any theory as to how they don't react there and maintain separate channels for the electrons to flow from base to tip?

@@welingkartr416 I think he talks about _electrons_ merely because he thinks that is what must be moving when you have a difference in electrical potential; I presume because he has sort of half understood the standard theory of electric circuits. As you point out, any charged particle will respond. However, what I suspect is that the data concern differences in the V_m of the cells in different parts of the plants, and these would not drive any current between these parts.

Gardeners who are moderate geeks would have already intuited much of this. It's great to see a dedicated scientist formally taking up this study. I personally believe some trees piggy-back off of this effect around larger trees. Celtis Sinensis (for example) trees don't do well out on their own and are usually found next to structures and other established trees. Bird scattering may account for some of this I know but I failed to get one to grow in an open position where I wanted it to become a large single shade tree. They are considered a weed where I live so to see it wither and die was strange.

@@daviddrew7852 who calls cosmology the queen of science - I never heard that one. I think what the comment is getting at is that cosmological models of the large-scale structure of the universe arise within the context of GR But let us look at a brief excerpt from a popular account of cosmology. My purpose is here is not to insist that the text is correct, but that electromagnetic phenomena are front left and centre throughout: _The CMB is landmark evidence of the Big Bang theory for the origin of the universe. In the Big Bang cosmological models, during the earliest periods, the universe was filled with an opaque fog of dense, hot plasma of sub-atomic particles. As the universe expanded, this plasma cooled to the point where protons and electrons combined to form neutral atoms of mostly hydrogen. Unlike the plasma, these atoms could not scatter thermal radiation by Thomson scattering, and so the universe became transparent. Known as the recombination epoch, this decoupling event released photons to travel freely through space. However, the photons have grown less energetic due to the cosmological redshift._

4::43 it is claimed a maple tree branch pattern is due to electric charges. And it kind of looks like the shape of a static discharge with each branch of the spark trying to get farther from the other one. The voltages he measured were less than 20 millivolts. So you could attach a 20 mv + or - charge to a branch and see what happens. Are branches sensitive to such weak voltages?. Here is where he shows bias toward his personal theory : The maple tree is convenient because it has this shape An Acacia tree on the in Africa where giraffes graze below like 19 feet do not grow like this. Redwoods do not grow like this Canary island pines do not grow like this. Choosing the maple cause it is one of the trees that kind of grows like it has repulsion between the branches. A good reason for that is the new growth is trying to get out of shade. Likely nothing to do with electric charge. 5:23 Arthur, Seriously??????I have seen palm trees like this. it occurs when someone transplants the trees with one straight and two at an an angle Note how the tops of the tilted ones are growing straight up. That is how they all grow. The growing tips grow upward after a palm is tilted. You think the static charge of these trees carried up from the earth is pushing those trunks apart. What happens when you put two metal flagpoles in the ground and attach a piece of cloth on a day with no wind. Do the flags point away from each other from repulsion? NO Again your bias that charge is a big player in everything leads to your false conclusion. 6:50 " veins of leaves are electric field lines of force". No they are cells that transport water and the products of photosynthesis. merely look at a squash leaf closely. There are branching patterns but there are also little polygons made where all these little vessels connect. 11:50 minutes. There is less than a volt and high " 2 mega OHM resistance. That means low current. At 17.47 he calculates that the force from less than a volt difference between the end of a branch and the trunk produces a resultant upward force 197 times the weight of the shoot tip. Few things wrong here. I can buy a 50,000 volt van de graph machine and touch the top. My hair will stand up. but it won't be ripped out by over 197x 50,000 ( call it 10million) times own weight. Stems are heavier than hair. You cannot lift anything with a density similar to water with the repulsive force of one volt over a foot of distance. Apologies that I lack the patience to correct Arthur's math. But the claim is easily observed to be wrong. Then he claims that .6 pounds of electric repulsion force is causing elongation of the stem at the tip. This obsession with electric causes and perhaps ignorance of plant biology causes him to neglect osmotic pressure. The osmotic pressure some cells of a leaf or stem tip is hundreds of PSI.

Heavier elements have greater force of impaction force in collisions when displacement can't be overcome by impaction force. Hot air balloons displacement of atmospheric gasses give way as quantum magnetic fields repulsion as displacement. Stars decay their atmospheres as heat waves outside of entanglement of mass as disolving atmospheric gasses into external heat energy outside of entanglement of mass. Not electricity. Heat currents. When you have currents of heat energy backing up and can't ground fast enough, then fire is external heat energy disolving internal magnetic fields and burst into fire. Lightning is instantaneously flash lighting atmospheric gasses disolving instantaneously into external heat energy outside of entanglement of mass as fire. Campfires slowly disolving internal magnetic fields proves hypotheses. Magnetism is used to move heat faster. We burn calories as fuel for fire or warmth. Shivering is rapid heat loss. Standing next to an external magnetic field disolving internal magnetic fields as fire as potential renewable heat energy when absorbed stops, shivering. Liquidity infinity to illusionary solidity of liquidity infinity as mass. Hydrogen under extreme pressure expands into helium. When you remove heat, the cold is constantly left behind. Mass occupies space as neutralized repulsion within mass as outward force of pressure known as weightless outside of a greater magnetic field. We absorb heat and loose heat energy outside of the entanglement of mass. Magnetic field generators move heat faster than normal magnetism. It forces heat energy to pass through mass faster. Lightning is rapid heat loss instantaneously disolving internal magnetic fields grounding currents through its nucleus or core where external heat energy outside of entanglement of mass as fire lighting up the sky instantaneously disolving internal magnetic fields. The light shows the path of fire lighting up the mass it strikes unabsorbed heat singularities bouncing off mass. Hot batteries store heat.
