A very heart-warming story. It’s great that little stories like these haven’t been lost in wars so big. They are as important, if not more so, than those of leaders and ‘heroes’ that are constantly on repeat on TV. Inspiring. RIP Arthur 🙏

One of the reasons I did it, when you see the VC covered on TV its generally the same 6 or 7 recipients or battles that are covered over and over, while men like Arthur and others from this region have been forgotten.

Norwich is a region of heroes! I must travel there and visit.

Every region has its heroes I'm just doing my bit to bring attention to the overlooked ones. P.S I'd be careful saying Ipswich is a part of Norwich personally :)

He was a hero decorated with the highest distinction but somehow I don’t think Arthur would have thought he was any different from most young men of his generation. God knows how we would fair if we are ever to depend on the generation today. Our government and military are scared of being called names, let alone dodging all kinds of indiscriminate death coming at them furiously from a determined enemy!

Its a valid point but older generations have always looked down on the ones coming after them, I remember a man I use to know who fought in the 2nd World War telling of when he came home he was in his local pub and older man came over to the table where he and his friends were sitting and flat out told them they were soft and wouldn't have lasted 5 minuets in the trenches.
