Well believe it or not, a very large part of the audience loved that kind of joke/comment. Calling people gay is always going to make somebody laugh. Mike starts with Artie first and Artie bust his balls and calls him gay, then Mike hits back harder and brings in his sister and Arties drug problems, and that’s when all gloves are off for Artie and he will mention he has aids and he hopes he dies and he’ll beat him up. But if you listen it’s Mike that comes into the studio and starts with Artie, probably to get air time since everyone who works there wants to be a celebrity and on tv in the worst way. Mike has no right to cry about Artie responding with anything after he pokes him like a bear. Years later, after they both left the show, Mike was on Arties podcast and they both made up with each other and were cool.

Artie was teasing Mike playfully like Howard and Robin and everyone else was, he wasn’t saying anything hateful. It was Mike who first turned it into a serious argument and brought in his sister into it and brings up Artie being a drug addict. You got to listen to other shows too not just this video. When Artie was falling asleep in the studio and Howard and everyone all was laughing at him and it was a fun show, Mike confronted Artie saying how dare he disrespect the show like that and fell asleep and was really mad and vicious about it to him. Artie then got serious too and said until Howard says something he’s not gonna take any marching orders from him and started calling him names again and goofing on him. It’s Mike who started with Artie. Howard wasn’t mad at Artie but Mike is and thinks it’s cool to call out Artie about it? Fine but Artie has every right to hit him back.
