Hello Maam, IN question 10 why the A* algorithm fails to find the optimal path S,B,A,C,G with a cost of 14 and rather finds a path S,E,F,G which costs 16.

A * algorithm always use evaluation function as f(n)=g(n)=h(n). and A* is optimal if h(n) is an admissible heuristic.

Hi we are having AD, ~AB, and ~CD . If we try to draw the path we having connection from A to D. not having path from A to B, and not having path from C to D. so now we have options from A to C and A to E and similarly from C to B and C to E. Inorder to overcome this we are going for next node to insert. that is having next minimum ie. AC . I think i clarified,still if you are not getting post me

Maam i think ans of ques 8 should be 4 coz one path is 304 from ~S3 coming from S2

According to question ~S3 means from ~S2 .see the given figure. they didnt expand the S2. For optimal path calculation we expanded S2 in our solution . And used the same notation. If you are confusing with S1, S2 S3....use AD,AB,CD while solving the problem.then compare with the given figure for answering the questions
