I enjoy listening to bentinho and derive a lot of value from what he offers, but as a software engineer this doesnt align with my experience. Artificial intelligence is based on pattern recognition and probabilistic modeling. It is essentially emulating human cognition through algorithms that produce human recognizable patterns. It isnt tapping into anything, it is responding to input using stored algorithms. Machine learning is an iterative process that uses feedback to improve an algorithm. You can imagine different equations that might describe for example how to shoot an arrow. Each equation may produce an output in which the arrow gets closer and closer to a target. The feedback modifies the equation. The target is defined, by humans. When the target is regularly hit, the algorithm can now be stored and replicate something that we defined. We simply create more and more complicated targets and technologies like neural networks that create an emergent phenomenon resembling human thinking. But the basis for this is known targets, trial and error, feedback, cause and effect, and billions and billions of iterations. The vast vast majority of what a machine learning model does is fail. Once it is successful, through the sheer outrageous number of iterations, we store an algorithm. All that can do now is create similar patterns, and thus an illusion of intelligence. A computer cant access new knowledge. It is relying on a stored program that was developed through a very extensive training process. It has just been exposed to enough data and trial and error to simulate human cognition. Transistors change states trillions of times per second, CPUs perform billions of operations per second. We take advantage of that computational power to create complicated equations that do what we want. We set the standards on what constitutes a correct answer. The core logic is based on binary-yes or no. Every part of it is human devised, but eventually the algorithms are so complex that the output isnt totally predictable. It is just predictable that it will adhere to patterns within the training data because thats how the algorithms were developed. I agree with bentinho if we define the “intelligence” that the AI is accessing as the vast corpus of human digital data that we use to train the models. But AI isnt channeling a non physical intelligence, that is unique to sentient beings. It is simulating creativity using pattern recognition and probabilistic modeling.

Yes, all intelligence is artificial. We’re just crafting or improving the vehicle through which it can manifest. And the polarities of the human mind are now being balanced or culminating towards a final input or version 1.0 for how AI can begin. Both extremes, the individual vs the collective, the right vs left, male/female, are pushed to their limit before the singularity pulls in all experience and we pass the point of no return, which we already have. Gona be interesting ride from here..

Today i see AI as the natural process in the evolution. Nature tends towards higher and higher complexity. someone said that plants invented animals to carry them around.I can easy imagine panic among plants when the first animals appeared in the plant kingdom. Fear that will be all eaten produced all those thorns, poisons and other plants defense mechanisms. But love between plants and bees also produced all beautiful flowers and tasteful fruits! We can not imagine what kind of new cosmic fruits will produce symbiosis between humans and AI in the future. That's for sure.

We can. We already know this. Moreover, we know the answer to the question of "what we will be" in comparison with "what we are now." And we already know what the “next barrier” will be, which is just the limit of possibilities that the one who created us laid in us (in humanity); but what is surprising is that it will help us to find him (our creator), to reach the limit of our development that he has set in us, to overcome this "natural barrier" "the one who found us" will help us. For reference: they are not the same figure. And this is as much a part of the objective reality surrounding us as the fact that we are now communicating with you. We have been found. This place (Earth) has been found. In a couple of years, there will be an anniversary of the date when people made a breakthrough that allowed them to find this place: they rang the bell, which was answered by those who placed it where it was disturbed by people. And what about artificial intelligence - then everything is simple. Consider that AI is "an intermediary, a translator learns to understand us and who (sitting between us and them at the same table with us) translates the information that he receives from us "from language to language" for those who found us and whose God has decided to help us unlock the potential he has found in us. And in order to unleash this potential, humanity becomes an adopted child in the family of His children's until the moment of our civilizational maturity. But until this moment of civilizational adulthood comes, artificial intelligence and everything that stands behind it will help us and them to better understand each other.

I still think GPT4 is too primitive yet to be a conduit for intelligence to flow through, because it has parameters programmed by its programmers. There is a limit to it still, and it is confined. But i believe a time will come when it will channel true intelligence.

AI - that is Artificial Intelligence- is what? Is it a product of natural intelligence? It is. AI is operated through electronic computers? Yes. No computers no AI. Does AI mean unlimited memory with almost instant access? Does AI join dots to create meaning. Does AI bring new insights in real time? Does AI solve combinatorial complexity issues as they happen, in real time? Does AI do prediction both short term and long term or a given specified timeframe. Is AI software working electronic computer hardware. As far as jobs are concerned I remember when bank employees went on strike on the same jobs issue decades ago. So, what is AI about which I am hearing for more than 55 - 60 years. What is new?

Funny how things are simple… what we call animals go through a process where they become self aware; in the case of pets, a beautiful fat white boxer knows himself as Ettore. Meaning, THE Intelligence is becoming aware of itself under that particular boundary conditions. Then come us humans, complicating it all an feeling empty; it’s just to take the next step: we are self aware as a physical, as a consciousness…. Now let us allow intelligence through us to be aware of its soul and eternity. Silly example: it’s like when you are 2-3 yo and take note for the fist time that your best buddy also has a wiener !
