The way this cartoon performed, it's any wonder that Uncle Crocs block was a ratings disaster on ABC. Also, in real life Charles Nelson Reilly Jonathan Harris didn't exactly get along and Reilly actually hated the show in real life.

I saw this for the first time yesterday and I have to confess, I was pretty amused although I have never actually seen M*A*S*H*. Sure, it's a little ruff (ahaha) around the edges (it IS Filmation) but the drawing style, tongue-in-cheek writing and voices (the male-as-female voices I just found funnier) made up for it for me. Scheimer himself said you weren't supposed to laugh with it but at it and I actually feel it's the strongest of the 3 cartoon segments on the show, but I'd have to see more to be certain. The two 'baddies' and General Upheaval (genius naming) were my favourites. I found Bullseye's ahaha voice gets ahahahya know - kinda - ahahaha annoying after a while though. I'd be curious to see where you got clear copies of this. The only one I could find was on KZbin and had Finnish subtitles. Also I'm pretty certain Frigid Barstool's name is a pun on Bridget Bardot. There was another that had Bob Soap (Bob Hope - obviously) and Darlena Metric (Marlene Deitrich - cleverer). Props for the Top Cat clip ;) - Overall, Bilko as cats is a lot better than M*A*S*H as dogs.

Thanks for the write up, while I may have hated the show, it is cool to see that it has it's fans. Also thank you for being polite about it, too many people get hateful when they disagree with me, so thanks for that again. As for where I got the footage... the sad thing is, I honestly don't remember. I tend to explore a lot of rather questionable areas of the internet in search for stuff and it tends to be on my hard drive for a long time before I review it. So I rarely remember where I get my stuff. Sorry.

It would be a parody of M * A * S *H, if it wasn't lacking in the two things that make up any good parody, intelligence and humor. Uncle Croc's Block could actually have been great in the right hands - and very possibly British ones. Kids loved the child hating Grotbags on Emu's World in the 80s and the anarchic humour of people like Rik Mayall and Tony Robinson. If you'd put them together it would have been outrageous satire at its best!
@janebyrne6463 Жыл бұрын
Having watched Krofft shows like "H. R. Pufenstuf" and "Lidsville", this show could have been a fun, trippy, show by the Krofft Brothers. Also, by the end of Uncle Croc's run, the people behind the show planned to use retooled segments of "The Groovie Ghoulies" on the show (retitled "The Super Fiends" after rival Hanna Barbera's "The Super Friends") but the show left the air (in February 1976) before that could happen. Ironically, after "Uncle Croc's" cancellation, the time slot was occupied by "Groovie Ghoulies" reruns until the '76 Fall season started.

@@SwiftNimblefoot I have and you obviously aren't putting into the equation that both those shows had more episodes than M-U-S-H an ran at a longer timeframe than M-U-S-H, so the additional time and cost of Flash Gordon and MOTU having to reuse more frames of animation would make logical sense. The fact that the M-U-S-H episodes are so short and repeat as much animation as they do, make them worse in comparison.
