For this type of marquetry we use 1.5mm thick sawn veneer. We mainly buy our stock in Europe like "Les Fils de J. Goerge" in France

Where do i get veneer nails?

Where do I buy veneer this thick? I only ever see veneers 0.06mm and not much bigger. Whereas these veneers look like 2mm...
