Artist Keith Haring was inspired by the graffiti, pop art and underground club culture of New York.
Haring was a great collaborator and worked with like-minded artists such as Andy Warhol and Jean-Michel Basquiat. All were interested in creating art for the many.
Haring designed record covers for RUN DMC and David Bowie, directed a music video for Grace Jones and developed a fashion line with Malcolm McLaren and Vivienne Westwood. In doing so, he introduced his art and ideas to as many people as possible.
Compelled to speak for his generation, his art responds to urgent issues including political dictatorship, racism, homophobia, drug addiction, AIDS awareness, capitalism, and the environment.
The quotes in this film come from Keith Haring’s original journals (which he kept between 1971 to 1989) and from ‘Keith Haring: The Authorized Biography’ by John Gruen, 1991.

Being DiFFERENT is not young teenagers tell themselves they are when going through TEENAGE ANGST and rebellion. AIDS is a Death Sentence and should never be taken lightly. Those pink and blue pills can further damage your liver and there no miracle drug to protect u from HIV/AIDS. Keith jarring was a Cultral Vulture

Ive seen his work in L.A. and San Francisco, he is really good, but I cant say that hes my favorite artist. I mean. I admire the confidence in his steady hand and how he found this nice formula that he kept repeating over and over again but to me he was selling out with his pop store at the end. JM Basquiat said that he was just a club decorator haha. I would have loved to see him live and see what would be of his carreer at 50 something today at 2019.

Keith created merch before merch was a thing, the store was an awesome way for everyday hard working people to have access to he’s art, art shouldn’t be this elites money statues art is for everyone & that’s what’s great about Keith he made he’s art accessible to the public to the everyday / hard working people & I think that’s awesome he let he didn’t sell out to the rich elites who didn’t accept him in the first place he stay true to his ideals & believes .Look at it now merch revolutionize the entertainment/ art world.

He was also not that good. Seems like a hype thing and him dying only hyped him more. No one rocks his art at all anymore because it was hella basic. You could look at his work as a whole I guess but you could do that with anyone who doodles. He's the perfect type of artist the regular guy can connect with and pretend he understands in a deep way. I've done art my whole life and I know hundreds of artists. He's crap. I'm sorry. Go search his work and reply below with which one is special. None. I had girls in my art class that could doodle better than him. I think ever since Warhol NYC can only produce personalities and not actual technical talent. Childish immature artists that only impress lay people and faux artists. Like Kara Walker.
@rosabscura
@rosabscura 4 жыл бұрын
Billy Bussey Studios I feel really sorry for you. A real artist knows that art is about how it makes people feel. The people who put up this video and lots of people watching it clearly feel something from his art and influence, and you’re just trying to delegitimize him as if your opinion is objectively true.
