In our latest Artist video we visit Rich Knox from Canadian rockers Danko Jones in the studio. Rich started playing drums professionally at age 16 in his hometown of Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. There he played with cover bands, in professional theatre pit bands, and local folk artists. In 2002, he moved to Montreal and studied drums at McGill University under the tutelage of Chris McCann.
Upon completing his jazz drums degree, he moved to Toronto, where he began playing with a number of singer-songwriters, jazz groups, and rock bands.
In 2013, Rich joined Danko Jones and has been with the band ever since. With the band, he’s released 2 live records, and one studio album, with another due out in the spring of 2017.
His style is tight, hard-hitting, tasteful, and full of energy. With only a 24" Bass Drum and 16" Floor Tom, Rich manages to deliver powerful rock grooves with his minimal set-up.
