Alan Capps "well spoken", "articulate" you may want to read up on how this translates when you're talking about people of color. or maybe you already know?
@janetbarber67814 жыл бұрын
Alan Capps - Why "wouldn't" Mr. Riley be "well spoken?" I think you mean well, Mr. Capps, and proud of this wonderful artist, but are you surprised that he is well spoken or something?
@AlanCappsArt4 жыл бұрын
@@ChaosOrZen my comment has nothing to do with his ethnicity. Not all artist are articulate and well spoken. You dont know me and you owe me an apology for assuming that my comment had racist overtones. Why did you assume this, because I am Caucasian?
@AlanCappsArt4 жыл бұрын
@@janetbarber6781 You are kidding right? Read my response to TJ.
@janetbarber67814 жыл бұрын
@@AlanCappsArt No, Alan, I'm not kidding. You completely ignored what TJ Duprey respectfully suggested. Also note in your attempt to explain yourself that you have articulated that 'many artists are not always so well spoken.' Well, Alan, that could be true of anyone in ANY profession. *You still don't even understand our concern, and neither one of us have a problem with you being white, Alan, but it is very likely the reason you don't understand the dilemma here. I do feel you didn't "intend" to insult or offend. You were simply complimenting

Man that is awesome that the Fairmont has an artist in resident, too cool. Dallas is my home town graduated from Thomas Jefferson (located on Walnut Hill) many moons ago. Back in the day when the school had a smoking area, LoL. Should have gone to Booker T. Washington (Arts Magnet High School), oh well. Riley you have a lot of talent and one day your work will be hanging in the DMA among other Museums around the world. Continue working like each painting to the next is a master piece. You have that "IT" quality that's rare. I hope all the best for you and your career as an artist. Here are a few artist I think you might like (you may be familiar w/ some of them?). Jose Parla (shows @ Mary Boone), HVW8 3 artist that do live painting, awesome blend of style, BLU (environmental animation artist) amazing and original on KZbin checkout "Big Bang Boom", and Doze Green. Just a few artist that I'm into that I came across on KZbin. Oh yeah almost forgot David Ellis and Barn Stormers when you have a min checkout "Letter to the President" a cool stop action animation w/ a hiphop jazz track. Peace and all the Best 2U

One of my personal pet peeves is words on paintings. As artists I believe with speak through images only, if you want to use words be a poet or express words through poetry. Such beautiful portraits and figures ruined by words. Again this is just my opinion and it's sad that I have to say that so sensitive people who like this style don't take it personally.

Where do you see basquiat?
@wannagonnagetfitwithrebecc27138 жыл бұрын
I think people think since there is writing on it (or poetry) people just want to throw Basquait's name in there. Writing = Basquait. But his work is about as similar to Basquait's as it would be to Jackson Pollock's lol

I'm glad your not one of those cool cat that want's there art representing the struggle of the black man and the oppression of the white man. I'm not racist but I'm sick and tried of hearing about slavery. Can we talk about why babies laugh at paper or who bit who's finger.
@ichris20119 жыл бұрын
I get what you're saying but for some people the idea that their last name comes from their ancestors master, or that their family is so far behind cause they had to work for no pay making white people rich 140 years ago really hurts. For those people things like that are much more important than why babies laugh. Especially with race issues being so prevalent even today. There's still a lot to be said about it through art.

when you state something as fact its not an opinion. if you're going to say he couldn't draw then do your research before you say something like it. alot of graffiti artist can draw btw.
