Okay so I learned today that Decoupage was a thing! 😆 If any of you didn’t know, I’m a self taught artist so my channel has always been me trying things and discovering things along the way! I was freshly graduated with my degree in computer science when I started my channel. Sometimes I learn new things just by your comments 🙌 thank you for always teaching this self taught artist new things 😄 I also finally set up my Patreon again after about 5 years 😅 if you’re interested in more behind the scenes content, a monthly art livestream starting in December, and more, it’s right here; www.patreon.com/Chloeroseart Thank you for your support, whether you’re a weekly watcher, once every so often, or just a silent watcher. It means a lot!

That is what mod podge was originally made for. I giggled when you said that. But hey, we all learn something new every day. And you cant be an expert at everything. I was a crafty kid growing up in the 80's and my mom was my scout leader for a few years, so she taught me a lot of crafts. I also taught myself a lot when i went to michaels for the first time. Saw a bunch of cool things and just figured out how to use it. I was taught by books and magazines since youtube wasnt a thing back then. Or i would just see something i wanted in a magazine and would make it myself. (Sorta a perk when you are poor. You learn to be crafty to have cool things)

I can totally see how decoupage could look like a fun hack to a person who's never seen it before! My Mom did it a lot in the 1990s, but I haven't really seen it be popular nowadays, so it's fun to see it make a comeback ^_^
@wintersprite Жыл бұрын
I’m a self-taught artist too. In high school I took theatre and a Crafts class as my art classes. In college, I took a 2D art class but didn’t do well in it (also didn’t know about the better colored pencils such as Prismas back then). My degree was in film and theatre.

It's annoying that they pretend it's some new revolutionary thing ... Using napkins as a cheap alternative for decoupage paper has been around for as long as découpage existed

I'm confused as to how using mod podge to do decoupage is a hack when that is what it is designed to be used for. The 'hack' is buy decoupage supplies and do some decoupage.
@YoungDymisty27 күн бұрын
I haven’t got to that part yet, but like literally lol 😅 I do decoupage art and mod podge is a staple. But it is like saying, I have a hack to change the colour of a shed by using paint 😂.

@@ChloeRoseArt Of course! It was very popular in the earlier part of the 20th century. My grandmother was married in the early 50s and decorated her wedding chest in decoupage: my mom still has it with most of the images intact.

Decoupage is a whole giant craft/hobby, they even sell special tissues with a variety of pictures for that purpose. You can cover anything stiff enough with tissue pictures, such as boxes, jars, or even books. And distress, add stuff over it too.

I did the mod podge with napkins 25 years ago (when I was 4.. yeah, that's the ticket.. 4 😉) We are packing to move and my husband found my stash of napkins the other day. If only I knew which box has the mod podge..
@MichelleSinTO Жыл бұрын
I recall doing this with napkins about 30 years ago, too. The original use for Mod Podge. It’s absolutely possible to do the hack with the pumpkin, paint, & baking soda, using exclusively products from a dollar store, which would really cut down on the cost of the paint. It’s also great way to use up baking soda or cornstarch that has been in the cupboard for too long and shouldn’t be used in cooking any longer.

Ok you asked for feedback: this felt so chaotic as far as editing and filming. Lighting was wild and different in every take. No explanation as to the change of angle or your look, and the sounds was pretty echoi. Suggestions: wipe your table, close your closet doors, take out your trash, remove objects that aren’t being used or for decor like the random chair. Feedback part two : the stuff you made was awesome. It all came out soso good and I am literally doing both of them sometime in the near future. So 👏👏👏 Final feedback: If your goal in making videos isn’t to put out soothing to watch content and instead you’re going for the more chaotic and happy energy then completely disregard my first comments and do you boo-boo. Cuz you’re definitely doing just fine and your viewers love you. It was just A LOT going on for my ADHD brain to feel chill with. But that’s JUST me.

I've done the napkin hack since I was little, you can actually buy glue that is specifically for that purpose (Napkin glue, that's the literal translation as to how it's called in my country) but as you could see in the video it can and will wrinkle if you're not careful, that's what I find to be very annoying but it's such a cool way to make things pretty. I especially love to do wooden tea boxes or jewellery boxes with that.
