It's time for another Artist Vlog! In this episode you'll see a little of what I've been up to over the past couple of months in the studio, I'll share lots of new work and a few works in progress, we'll say goodbye to the huge tree painting that has been in my studio since I painted and sold it last year (you'll find out why it's been with me for so long!), and I'll start testing some of the lightfastness of my watercolours. We'll also take a trip to Leith Hill in Surrey, and finally...I'm back in Suffolk for the first time in over nine months!

I wanted to say how much I appreciate that you do payment arrangements with customers. Giving people the ability to have fine art in their homes while not under-selling yourself is wonderful.

Thanks Savannah! I really like that it gives people the opportunity to own art that they otherwise possibly wouldn't have been able to afford if they had to pay for it all in one go. :)

So happy you are able to travel back to Suffolk! hope the drive there was a good one. The large handmade colours palette turned out really well and all the little palettes did too. I have done exacly the same as you, and made swatch cards to go in the lids of the palettes I am putting together,and thank goodness for the trusty Dymo lablelling machine!!!. I love the paintgs you made for the shop update using the handmade paints, it definitely gives your paintings a new richness of colour and depth and adds to their magical feel too and I sense a new boldness coming into your paintings too inspired by all your new colours.It's lovely to see works in progress too,another glimpse behind the scenes, but it shows how you build up the paintings,I love the new finished paintings I love "Snow Moon" and "Snow Moon 2" please please please consider making prints of these two, I would love to have prints of both ( I still think "Snow Mon would make a great childern's story book), they really struck a chord with me and they are really magical too. "Hidden House" and "Hidden House 2" I loved the colours in these two pieces. Aldeburough looks like an amazing place to visit,I love stoney beaches,perfect for finding stones to paint on I bet!. Hope you and Dominic have a wondeful time visting suffolk,and hope the trip really inspires you too.Glad the stunning minimal tree painting finally went to it's new home too,I bet the new owers are really happy. When I made the two large sheets of swatches of all my handmade colours I ended upmaking a third, which is on the wall oppositte my studio window so I can see the lightfastness of them all over time. Hope the weather is good on your trip and you get to spend time in your Mum's amazing garden and that this inspires you too. xx P.s I think your little car is way cool love the colour it's very retro!

Thanks Matt! We're currently thinking about which paintings we'd like to offer as prints, so watch this space! ;) Unfortunately, Dominic isn't here with me this time as he has commitments at home, but it's so lovely to be back in Suffolk even though I'm missing him! Please let me know the results of your lightfastness tests - I'd be very interested to know. We've had a mixed bag of weather so far, ranging from stormy rain and wind, to hail (!), to a little bit of sunshine, but we're getting out and about each day and visiting some lovely places. I've done a bit of filming and I'm also trying to find the time to paint a little too, when I can. It is beautiful here, and I always love to be back by the coast! I hope you're having a good week too. xx

I wil let you know about the lightfastness tests. I look forward to the videos of your trip.Weather here is really mixed too,but we've had some beautiful sunsets which I've tried to capture in my sketchbooks.Hope this trip really inspires you.

I tend to work quite small in watercolour (my really large paintings are almost always in acrylic on canvas!), but years ago I did make a couple that were about 50x70cm, if I remember correctly.

Natasha, How did you come about painting landscapes in unconventional colours? I find it so refreshing to see. Are there any artists that inspire your work?
@NatashaNewtonArt
@NatashaNewtonArt 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I love David Hockney, partly for his use of colour (which is usually different to mine but very unique and inspiring), but really it just came about through trial and error, many years of practice, and trying different things to refine the colour palettes I love and my general style!
