I think the best answer I can think of it : In the building process, it’s harder to be a rapper. They have to make albums and consistent hits. Create a discography that keeps them relevant also. In long term it’s harder being a battle rapper: Because they can’t go in tour and repeat lyrics. They have to constantly create and always put their career at risk. A bad album compared to a DIRTY 30…. Isn’t even comparable in the consequence.

Artist definitely work harder. They’re more versatile. Battle rappers lose focus on being superstars. Meek is a perfect example. Another example, Math couldn’t make it being a artist so he made a pod.

big facts... theres way more work as a artist. BattleRap has a small community so iits harder to fall off there. In rap you can be gone after 1 hit song or a couple... to keep it up is wild work

One thing I’ll say about Hanz is that his verses always sound like he puts a lot of time & effort into it. Some of his verses are legendary.
@lexdadon
@lexdadon 9 ай бұрын
As far as writing I would say battle rap. Every verse that they spit and write they can only use once. An artist has the luxury of reusing verses. Whether it be a freestyle and then throw into a song. Or an old song that never got release and they can reuse that verse etc etc. Plus battle rappers had to perform a whole verse for like 5-10 mins straight, memorize it and all of that. An artist can punch in whole recording or during a show have the ad-libs in the background.

You're bugging. Art imitates life. You ever heard that saying before? Lol. An artist's lyrics are way more profound than battle rap lyrics. Battle rap is a gimmick, very one sided. An album can give so much more insight than a battle rap. Rapping to a beat and staying in rhythm with one is much more hard to do. That's why battle rappers never make great albums which is the goal of rapping.
@baranda0
@baranda0 9 ай бұрын
Not alot of great albums these past years, it’s all playlists heavy and most folks have throwback rap songs which speaks more on the current state of rap as a whole when it comes to artistry. The rest of the world is probably taking a page out of the south’s hip hop book. Support your own, it’s why the battle rappers in other parts of the world are selling big in their respected countries

There are ways were battle rapper have it more difficult. Firstly, you can't be carried by anyone else. It's just you by yourself. There is no Just Blaze beat to save you. There is no Drake feature to help your career. Secondly, battle rappers don't get to stand behind bullsh*t raps. They have to get on stage and perform whatever rounds they have. Rappers can release some trash and ignore it when it fails. Thirdly, they get once chance to perform their raps. If the venue decided to not rock with you, than that's it. You can't spit it at another venue and see how it goes. Once you rap it, you throw it away forever.

Twork saying he doesn't wanna hear Positive/Political/SocialCommentary/Spiritual/Metaphysical/Holisitic raps IN BATTLE RAP is exactly what's wrong with the youth today. He's 30 though not some ignorant teenager whom doesn't know any better. I'm not saying one has to be a pacifist but goddamn have some balance this goes for mainstream HH and BR. Pac, Nas, WU, MF DOOM, Black Thought, AZ, Styles P, Jigga, Mos DEF, Dead Prez, X Clan, Brand Nubian, Jay Elec etc give you both sides. Pusha T a legend himself, mastered the art of coke raps and it's never boring nor do i get tired of it and he's a lyricist. Twork still owes B Dot that battle from SM10 (T TOP replaced NJT after NJT car collision), that should be B Dot's return battle.

Battle rappers have it harder(pause). Rappers can have the SILENCE of the studio..all the concentration needed. They get to enjoy the luxury of the music and people enjoying well before the concert. Rappers can recreate one song over and over until its right before any one ever hears it. Battle rappers get a practice and then they right off to the "concert). Their entire energy comes from the crowd. It can make them. They find out live thats its not likes. Rappers can hide trash bars behind music. Battlers cant do that. They got the crowd and a mic #Hip hop

I think we need more deep and thought-provoking music. We have enough of the other stuff. And I know these emcees are capable of it. Many do seem to have a hard time making the transition to making & performing music, but I do think the same amount of effort & passion has to be put into the music. For example, if you wouldn't battle rap over a pre-recorded track, why rap your songs over the pre-recorded track? It comes across as lazy

Math & other battle rappers sound like haters when they say they’re only inspired by like 3 rappers. There’s way more skilled MCs than that. That perspective & closed minded mentality stunts growth. It also perpetuates the cycle of black people devaluing our culture which causes others to do the same. Industry artists downplay battle rap & battle rappers downplay industry artists, then fans believe that bs & it causes unnecessary division.
