I was just thinking about you today and remembering how phenomenal of a voice actor and friend you were. I still remember the first time I heard your voice for Serpent in the Staglands. I was immediately blown away and knew instantly that you were bursting with talent. When I actually ended up meeting you, you can imagine how shocked I was to find such an infectious personality that only ever tried spreading good vibes and making content that would put a smile on a stranger's face. I didn't realize the last time we talked would be the last time I'd have the opportunity to work alongside you. I'll never forget our long talks about student loans, the voice acting industry and how to make it big on KZbin. Rest-in-peace, buddy. A more genuine guy, I've rarely met.

Hey Caleb, it's been a while. I never said anything here, but I wanted to tell you how I'm doing in some fashion. I made it to Colorado like I had talked about for years now, and I even got here in the old mazda. You know, the one that broke down on my first road trip? You'll never guess how easy it was to fix too, only cost 390 for everything it needed. Hasn't had a single engine problem yet, been driving it daily for about 3 months now. I kick myself thinking about how much sooner I could've gotten the old thing back, maybe I would've been able to visit you sooner like I had said I wanted to... I want you to know this, you're one of the biggest reasons I'm continuing to move forward. You inspired me in so many ways, not the least of which being creatively. You were the very first KZbinr I ever watched, back when I was just looking up walkthroughs for Myst 3 when I got stumped. I was only 10 back when I first found you, and it never ceases to amaze me how genuine you were when I spoke to you 9 years later. I'm not sure I would've held on to my dreams with quite the same conviction if it weren't for the conversations we had, and I especially wouldn't have held on to my adventurous spirit without your stories. You made the idea of bringing dreams to life seem less like a laborious task, and more like a thing that flows through your very soul and out of your finger tips back into the world around you. Like how the moon pulls the tides and currents of the ocean, with roaring waves and calm intervals in between that last just long enough to catch your breath. I look up to the stars during those grace periods, and I think of you... I think of the mark you left on this world, the impact on people you've touched, and the pieces of you that remain still. Like stones in a lake, long after they've been skipped across... I'll never forget you, and I won't waste the inspiration you gave me. I hope I get to visit you one day still, but until then, listen... I love you, okay?

I'm so sorry to hear about Caleb's passing. Is there a eulogy we can read? I know he meant a lot to many people. I know his videos were a needed outlet for me for almost 15 years. My heart is heavy. I mean it when I say that his family and friends have my prayers.

Wait, what?? Please say it isn't true. Caleb passed away?? That is so incredibly sad, if true :( He seemed like such a great guy. Always positive vibes and comments/interactions with me and the community here. And his wit, humor, and sarcasm was absolutely top-notch. So unique. Combine that with his amazing ability to do cool voices and sound effects with his voice, it pushed his personality and wit to the next level. He had the best "Garrett" voice I've ever heard, outside of Stephen Russell. Just an amazing talent and overall amazing person. Not to menton his artistic/painting skills. Wow, devastating news... Am still hoping to eventually hear words to the contrary. If true, though, rest in peace, Caleb. Thank you for all the KZbin laughs and fun ❤

Caleb was such a massively talented artist. Whether it was oil paintings, sketches, concept art, and all things he digital, his skill and creativity was truly impressive. One thing some folks may not know is that he also played a number of musical instruments. When I first met him back in 2002, he played a melody for me, and I made it a point to learn it. I played it back to him once, and he acted like I put him in his place or something by being able to replicate this little thing he insisted he came up with to showcase his technical skill. But he was always so self-deprecating. I'm certain his musical talent met or exceeded my own, just as he completely blew me out of the water with drawing and painting. (I did finally learn how to do that loud whistle you could do, so I'm catching up, bro.) If anyone is interested, here is a cover/elaboration on that melody from ages ago. What I wouldn't give to be able to play this game again. Wish Xbox or PlayStation (I am sure they won't since its only on Xbox or PC) would add it to their pass or Premium subscriptions. Watching you play this makes me sad and happy at the same time. You keep popping these vidz out and I will be right here to view them. Haha no you're right! I hate that it takes so long to get to the gameplay recordings, time for me flies like lightening through a space-time wormhole. There was a moment years ago when the channel could have skyrocketed, and I might have had the opportunity to basically make youtube a career, but life swept me off in a different direction. Hopefully I can get back into the groove at some point so it's not so long between vids. If I had the money, I'd just hire an editor I think lol, that would save sooo much time. In my mind I just uploaded this Thief video, but it's already been 2 weeks! I've got several videos planned for vlogs and art stuff, and even hours upon hours of gameplay footage already recorded, but it's the editing that just kills me, editing's easy, but it's so time consuming. I'm not giving up though, far from it :)

Hi Ian! Sadly it looks like the 'voice acting' in Firmament is A.i. generated, as well as a lot of other things in the game, like the story. The end credits let the player know at the very end of the crawl. It says all voices are "A.i. Assisted", meaning .. just a.i.. I have also recently been introduced to the idea of allowing my voice to be used in a.i., and I declined and will continue to decline, even if that means losing the job. Yeah it was a letdown to hear Cyan is doing that stuff, I mean I know a.i. is unstoppable at this point, and maybe it has some great uses, but I think a lot of things will change because of it, and I'm not looking forward to some of those changes. But don't let it get you down, the best stuff will always be hand made, and we'll always have the classics :)

Greetings sir! It has been a long time since we had a video from you in this franchise. I truly hope you had a good Christmas and New Year so far. I had covid, again. It was the most painful strand I had. The first one I had back in 2020 wasn't as painful as this one was. Of course having a 103.9 temp didn't help with the aches and pains. I was eating tylenol every 6 hrs and eventually lost my taste and smell, again. It literally felt like I was beat with a bat and left on the side of the road. It hurt so much. Made Christmas interesting cause I was sick and I missed 2 weeks of work. That was a vast improvement from last time when I had this I missed Thanksgiving through the new year (2020-2021). But I am better now, just a few things bother me. My lungs and and my heart hurt every now and then. Enough of that. I hope you are well and if you can, please release another video from this game. And of course all the best and take care.

Yeah, what I said was there was a new fan-made Thief cutscene made as of a few days ago, in case you hadn't heard. But not by just by any fan, though. Nope! By Daniel Thron himself! He did original Thief cutscenes, maps, box art, etc. And even some Terry Brosius voicework in the new vid, too :D I put the exact title of it here the other day rather than linked to it, but I will try linking to it now. And give an abbreviated title: "Thief - Cutscene Zero". @@Basso_ Oh dang that was freaking awesome! I just watched it, I was immediately wishing it was the new Thief trailer! Thanks for reposting it, I wouldn't have wanted to miss that gem, and I don't know that I would have heard about it if it hadn't been for you. I just don't understand why so many intellectual property concepts that hit instant classic status, fall into the hands of numbskulls who feel the need to change what worked about them. Like the latest Thief game, the art, mechanics, etc. were good, but the magic just wasn't there anymore. Some people might complain that a new title isn't original, but with something like Thief, more of the same is a good thing, sure give it an upgrade, but keep it like what worked. I loved the cutscene, thank you!

@@artistcaleb Exactly!! Why mess so much with such an amazing foundational formula gameplay-, atmosphere-, and style-wise? There is so much awesomeness to pull from in the originals to make another game. So glad you enjoyed the new cutscene! It has been a long time since I played Thief 2014, but to me, this new trailer feels like it has more Thief heart and soul in it than most anything I remember in Thief 2014. Even the audio reeks of classic Thief. Truly hope this helps inspire the creation of a new Thief game! Maybe Night Dive Studios, who just released a new System Shock game (a remake. I think?), which looks pretty impressive to me, could do a new Thief sequel or prequel some good justice. You should look at that if you haven't seen. Its level of quality caught me off-guard And since the Thief IP was sold by Square Enix to The Embracer Group a relatively short time ago, I really hope that means SOMETHING will be done with the IP... and hopefully something worthwhile

@@Basso_ Oh heck yeah I saw the System Shock remake, it looks amazing! I want to get it and was just about to buy it, but priorities jumped in blocked me lol. I didn't know Square Enix sold the Thief IP, that actually sounds promising! But whoever does the next iteration of it BETTER do a good job lol.
