How interesting.... even the fact that you saw the potential in that mess. I will be watching out for the next episode to see how the painting progresses

Love this concept. So simple, why did I never think of this before? Now the fall leaves on the ground, or a pathway full of shadows, or whatever can be photographed and turned into inspiration pieces. Love the view finder tool idea too.

This was a lightbulb video for me. You always hear artists say don't t think when it comes to starting an abstarct painting but i struggle with what to do. This gives me an idea to plan my vision before and and then just go with it. Love that!

Thank you so much. After 50 years of life happening around me I was finally able to get back to painting. Abstract always interested me, but how to begin, how to get inspired was my beast of burden. I don't know which is the next video on transferring this idea to canvas. Thank you

Try this: Go to your local hardware store and buy a small sheet of galvanized steel. (You could also use a galvanized metal bucket or tub, but the flat sheet is easier to work with.) Next, you'll want a 10 power printer's magnifying glass with a base plate. The base has an opening that works just like your viewfinders. Examine the crystalline structure of the zinc on the metal with the magnifying glass, looking through the base. There is an almost infinite variety of patterns in the zinc that often resembles snow flake crystals. By moving the base plate/view finder of the glass around, you're sure to find a pattern that inspires you.

I’m really hoping to see you paint this once it’s transferred to the canvas. That way would take me through the entire thought process. Thank you for sharing.

I’ve studied abstract first awhile and this concept is totally new and exciting to me! I may be able to put all the messes in my home to good use as art inspiration now! It’s also gives me the thought of dropping paper scraps and see how they land on the floor to use this same concept.

Hi Gwen, I've just found you and I'm so glad. I have been wanting to paint abstract for some time, but although I have learned much from online courses, KZbin tutorials, etc., I always come unstuck when it comes to WHAT to paint without it ending up as something representational - a landscape, say. Your video has been such an eye-opener! I feel a huge blockage has been removed and my creative juices can start flowing again. I have started to look at things differently (who knew a painting could come out of a mess your dog made with toilet paper??!!) so a big THANK YOU.🙏 I can't wait to get going. ❤

Very interesting and useful. Thanks for sharing this with us. My question would be about the centre of interest. I would tend to see it elsewhere than you, that is, the forms that are below what you see as the centre of interest. Is this just a matter of personal perspective?
@GwenFoxArtist
@GwenFoxArtist 3 ай бұрын
Daniel....the center of interest can be anywhere so you are correct. I actually saw it in several places but chose the one in the video. We will see how it comes out. Thanks for watching the video and for your comment and question.
