The paper is so fabric/linen-y looking when you get up close! Pretty! I’ve never been able to get the right technique for the Kadhi papers. I think I don’t paint fast enough. Lol (commitment problems, for sure! LOl)

OK, I've been watching you work in your DW journal since you started on it, but this video has finally convinced me to pull the trigger and order some khadi paper. This will put me just a bit over my monthly art supply budget, but I ordered the 12 x 16 size sheets which I can cut into a variety of smaller sizes if I want, making it a good value for the buck. See how we can justify things to ourselves?😊

I found a huge journal in a unique shop the other day that I’m pondering on, whether to splurge - the paper pages are all the same but I’m thinking I could add burlap or textured fabric or laces to create more unique layouts. Love this! I’m inspired to get my graphite paints out and give it a go! I also got the graphite black. I find it a bit tricky to get a nice narrow stream going without getting a big blob 😢. More practice required I suspect 😊. Thanks for the inspiration!! I’ve always wanted a Yorkie, but I have to wait until til we travel less. They are so adorable.

You have inspired me to start working with water color, specifically Khadi paper. Do I need to wet the Khadi paper amd tape it on a board to stretch it before I start painting ?

I don’t wet it first or stretch it - I just work on it dry. It does warp if you use a lot of wet stuff, then it dries flat. If you stretch your paper - you can definitely do that. 😊

I know you use Sennelier fixative when you use soft oil pastels, but what would you use on a piece that has oil pastels/charcoal/pencil/watercolor/acrylics? I've looked online and found some that cover some of the mediums but not others. Do you need 2 (or more) fixatives? What order would you use them in? Sorry for the long message.

I do love me some muted colors. That paper really picks up the texture from the bubble wrap and the shelf liner well! I have one of these in the smaller size - I’m still afraid to commit to journals because a piece of paper is so much easier to get rid of or cut down if it’s truly hideous! 🫣

I started in the middle... then am working my way around.. that way if I mess up a page - it is in the middle 😂
