Thanks so much for your very informative video and thoughts on these watercolor products. Like you, I have to be careful of price and also how much I would use something. Your sketch was lovely and Altenew should be proud of how you used their products. Quite a showcasing card. Thanks so much.

I like the way your flowers turned out. If you have time, I’m interested in how well their cold press paper behaves and how the price compares with other 100% cotton papers.

Kelly, your card is absolutely beautiful! I greatly appreciate your honesty in all the information you provide. I'm no artist or painter so expensive paints aren't on my radar or supply list. I'm like many others & use what I have available such as Crayola watercolor paints, inks, reinkers, Perfect Pearls, Liquid Pearls, & a few others. I'd like to pick your brain for a minute if I may. I'd like to ask you the difference between cold & hot press watercolor paper & why you prefer cold press? Again, thank you for all you do for us. God bless you, your family, & have an incredible day!! 🥰

I had some of the same thoughts as you. We got a set of the tube paints if you signed up for Amy Tangerine's workshop and the way she used them, the bright colors worked great. for regular painting, you would have to mix a lot. I don't mind that, but others might. I use Daniel Smith and Schmincke watercolors for the most part and am happy with them. the bright colors might be a good fit for Amy type of journaling. I sat with my grand daughter (24) and did a swatch sheet with her, the whole 12 x 12 color bands, so she could she how the paints would mix. that was a good exercise and reminder for both of us. thanks as always for sharing and all the inspiration.

Thank you for another great review! I was surprised to learn that they are marketing these paints to watercolor artists as opposed to card makers specifically. As someone who does both, I find it pretty cool when there's crossover between the two. The card is beautiful, I always love seeing the cards you make!

Great, INFORMATIVE, review. Also, look at me: I AM GREEN. Hell, the cheapest Daniel Smiths I’ve seen were about $20 a tube here in Australia. Not sure how cheap the cheapest colours are or how much *that* store price gouges, but they are not cheap water colours!

As always your end product looks great. I am surprised that Altenew is branching out past card makers. They have great products but the water colors seem a little high end

Very nice hand drawn/painted coneflowers! I appreciate the information I will say that they're nice for a craft watercolor set but I don't think they would necessarily hold up in the artist's world due to light fastness. As far as Lyft I would say color would probably migrate if you added splattered water. But I wholeheartedly agree with you as far as the cost of watercolors I probably wouldn't spend that much seeing as how I check out clearance bins at Blick and recently found Van Gogh watercolor for $2.38 for a 10 mL tube. I know I probably got lucky and it's just five colors but you can mix so many other colors with just five base colors. Also it might be a benefit that you used their watercolor paper as opposed to what you might typically use because there's different watercolor paper brands that have different sizing and such so everything comes into play in the art world.

I agree, the price is the sticking point. I use daniel smith too and there's a big difference in quality, pigment etc. I do also use sennelier and winsor and newton, lukas etc - these are all artist quality paints as well, and much cheaper than the altenew tubes😵

Thanks for the review and information. As a card maker, I use what I have to watercolor-- ink refills, smooshing ink on to my glass mat, water reactive markers, etc. I do enjoy watercolor the way I do it. I know I will never be an artist per se but I love what I create. I don't think I ever actually buy true watercolors. I'd rather have a die set for the money but I enjoyed watching your process. TFS. The coneflower's are lovely!
