One more thing regarding the controversies around "Blurred Lines." The song was criticized for being a rip off of Marvin Gaye’s 1977 hit “Got to Give It Up.” And Gaye's estate went on to file a copyright infringement lawsuit against Robin Thicke and Pharrell Williams that ended in a $5M judgment in the estate's favor.

Roddy is right, his debut album set a precedent in rap that wasn’t there from a male rapper yet because of the overnight success of tiktok. How many artists selling 100k on there debut? Roddy career reminds me similar to Megan trainor. Both had huge debut albums and their songs were all over radio for an entire whole year(especially Megan in 2015. Then they both dropped a follow up album that flopped. Roddy mistake was not capitalising on the success immediately by relating more songs and actually hyping or promoting his second album like how Travis did. He ruined it by dropping it last minute and thinking it can be bigger than his first. For that you gotta be a interesting artist and popular to do that

Cause Taylor reputation and public image is built in a pathetic image of feminism mixed with poor accountability choices for the men she chose to be with as well as inspiring a angry rebellious generation go women who wanna be hoes or boss bitches than wives. The difference is her music is kind of enjoyable enough people wanna hear. Drake and even future makes songs about exes it’s all about marketing and how you try and filter it
@luisrodrigogarciaortiz7285 Жыл бұрын
It's more about how you do it and why you do it. Robin Thicke's Paula failed because it's corny and it really is more about robin getting his wife back rather than him making good music or expressing himself. Converge's Jane Doe and You Failed me are about a very specific relationship that ended badly for Jacob Bannon. The albums talk about more on how expectations, emotional immaturity and inexperience led to turmoil and destruction in romantic relationships. It's self introspection during a very painful moment and the music's aggressiveness plays out in it's favor. You can also make more angsty and corny albums about unlove and straight up hatred about your ex loved one if you are aware enough, tho. Type o Negative's Slow Deep and Hard and The Origin of The Feces are basically Peter Steele whining and complaining about his unfaithful ex girlfriend and how he wants to kill himself while calling her misogynistic slurs. But you know what? The lyrics and songwriting are full of irony and self deprecation so it never comes out as needy or "creepy" (one of the stupidest labels out there) as Thicke's Paula.

Logics "Everybody" would b e a great addition to this list. His mixtapes were amazing and first 2 albums were his best work. Then he got all preachy on Everybody and went straight downhill until he went back to his roots in No pressure.

Tbh The Big Day was t bad I still listen to songs from it every now and then, it was just a personal album for his wife, and it wasn’t what fans were expecting, it’s similar to the reaction Kanye got for DONDA because it was a personal album to his mom

The Big Day was awful, but I'm willing to pretend it didn't happen if Chance drops an album on par with Acid Rap/Coloring Book next. Yah Know is a really enjoyable listen imo
@mobilegameclips5628 Жыл бұрын
Meh that’s a shit attitude. If you don’t like it you don’t like it but you ALREADY HAVE Acid Rap and Coloring Book so you should just be great fun for the amazing music the man put out and you should have nothing but respect for a man coming from nothing working hard succeeding and then taking the time to be a father and enjoy his life. If you respected chance on the come up then you should respect him enjoying the good life right now. If he never made another song I’d still be a fan for life 👌🏼

Honestly, you don’t need to be putting out albums every year as an artist… it’s not manageable. Hip-hop and pop music in general is so fickle that attention spans are shorter than ever. Problem is, there’s so many clones, or one dimensional talents, it’s hard to keep things fresh, or evolve with the times. That said, Kanye is a fucking beast and a goddamn outlier.
@CaitCher Жыл бұрын
I guess where I'm from Roddy Ricch is not exactly the most noteable name in hiphop, but the main reason why everyone remembers The Box is because for some reason that no one can explain that it was THE song that was to block Justin Bieber's "pedo anthem" (Yummy) from charting #1 on Billboard, and it was the most glorious sight to behold.

A lot of rappers don't have that same hunger after their first album. The hunger, passion and talent is what drives artists to make great music, in my opinion and when the hunger the drive and aren't there and any other negative aspects that's when the music stop being amazing, in my opinion.
