Great video!! I’m from the area….such a nice spot in the summer… Those berries you were eating are both huckleberries blue and the red… those were not blueberries 🫐 they were huckleberries just the blue version 😊 Our natural blue berries are much smaller/shorter bushes, and generally found at high altitudes.

Thanks and interesting to know that there's blue huckleberries.

Great video. Where abouts did you park? I’ve been researching a lot and many say the east mainline? We are camping at atluck is that where you driving on the right side of a lake? I know the bridge was washed out but trying to determine exactly what side to access the caves from as I do know there’s two.

Atluck Lake was in the video. It's tricky to describe where to park, etc, because I don't know the names of the logging roads that I was traveling on, but the start was approx 1/2 an hour after the lake. You might find more details simply by looking at Google Earth. Good luck.

@@isladethomasthank you this helps. I’ve done a lot of research and my main question has now been answered. I know the caves can be accessed from opposite sides so that helps me narrow that down! Thank you! I’ve been told there’s bats in the caves that are endangered which required the park to not be as accessible. The river alone looks super beautiful to discover.

Is the water drinkable, as is?

Probably, but I normally don't take any chances when it comes to drinking the river water.

how many times have you encountered a bear exploring?
@isladethomas
@isladethomas Жыл бұрын
Quite a few times! At least 8 that I can think of and some were really close up encounters (within 15 - 25 feet).

@@isladethomas Have you considered using a whistle to scare bears away while hiking in the forest?
