I love this. The way it cuts back and forth between scenes of violence in her private life and scenes of Tonya's public success captures both the movie and the song perfectly. Layering the "I want to stop" "We can't" audio over the moment when she's looking in the mirror, trying to force a smile on to her face while her world is burning down... It sums up her inner monologue -- her brokenness -- her struggle soooooo well. Gets me every time.
@medamaesofficial6 жыл бұрын
Wow, you really deeply understand what I was trying to portray here. I think audio and visuals together can be magical, if it's done right. Thank you for such a detailed and heartfelt comment. Happy that the message got to you, that was my main mission :)
I just realised that this isnt any ordinary olympic movie, this is her actual life. There was no support for her but there were tiny sparks of hope that made Tonya Harding go through all of the pain and suffering.
@samanthapenny21035 жыл бұрын
Actually this movie was based mostly on some of the statements the police had of that day, Tonya and her family actually didn’t want this film released and I watched it on a plane trip and I can see why they didn’t as she was treated so horribly it wouldn’t surprise me if she went a little nuts from her behind the scenes life.

I hate people that dislike Tonya, maybe she did something horrible to Nancy but this is a true story, imagine you being her. She's been going through all this shit and the only thing people do is judge her. She had an abusive mother that was never supportive through what she loved the most. Tonya inspires me so much, it doesn't matter if it was good or bad that she did, that's the past. You can't change it. Tonya is inspirational, lovely, powerful and strong and that's why I love her. Please try not to judge people for a thing they did if you don't know their actual story -Swedish girl trying to achieve her dreams of being a skater, like Tonya 🇸🇪❤️

TBH she was really great! But I think she needs to take some responsibility for her actions such as not telling authorities and even in recent interviews when asked if she ever apologized to Nancy she was basically like "Well I didn't do it so why should I have to" and to be fair she really dosen't have to but that made her look extremely bitchy and showed her lack of human decency.

Children aren't randomly violent, crude, or disrespectful. When you see displays like that in the extreme, it's a sign of (usually abuse) something wrong in their home or personal lives. It translates into how they behave as adults, the people they choose to be around as adults, the situations they get stuck in...until they think their only option to escape is to do something about it themselves. They aren't innocent of wrongdoing, but neither are the people that did nothing when they thought something was off. Neither is a system that ignores a child's subconcious pleas for help until they're forced into a place where they think they have to take extreme action.
