I just entered this DLC for the first time today, and im playing at SL1 (level 1), and Artorias is kicking my ass right now, he is one-shotting me with most of his attacks, but I shall not let that break me, since I finished Dark Souls 3 at level 1! btw, the hand pulled you to the past when artorias was alive (kinda), but he was consumed by the abyss, basically corrupting him when he tried to fight manus. So, you are fighting the corrupted knight artorias who has lost his wits. im 90% sure this is the story but i could be missing some details. Pretty cool, right?

You're correct! And not ONLY that, but also Artorias' sword (left) arm was broken in his fight with Manus, you can see it just hanging limply at his side through the whole fight, and he left his shield behind to protect Sif. Guy is an absolute unit with half his gear, 3/4 of his limbs, and his sword in the wrong hand

The "Gravelord Servant" message that came up, and the Gravelord summon sign you saw earlier before that, is a pvp covenant. The Covenanter can use their item to summon red ghosts (look like invaders) of normal enemies into other players' worlds that are much stronger and tanker than normal, but they can only be summoned onto players who are on NG+ or higher. A first run through won't be affected by the Gravelord "Disasters" (aka red ghost enemies), but anyone can see the invasion sign to try and punish the Gravelord Servant Covenanter.

Artorias is the GOAT from DS1. If you pay attention, you can see that Artorias was fighting you with one broken arm and while insane due to the corruption of the Abyss. Imagine how much better he would have been using that sword in his main hand (an image we have of Artorias shows him using his sword in the left hand, so people theorized he's left-handed) and wielding his shield, which he left behind to protect Sif. Also, fighting Sif AFTER the DLC is super sad - it adds a bit to the cutscene that shows that Sif recognizes you. Sif doesn't want to hurt you, but Sif also doesn't want you to end up like Artorias. So Sif fights you even knowing you saved his (her? I forget) life.

Make sure to chat with Elizabeth, and every NPC in general. Also, since NG+ starts automatically, if you see any NPC with drip you want, such as Chester, feel free to kill them. And Priscilla too if you want, just so you can say you fought all bosses

Honestly this DLC is up there, I'd probably put it right alongside Shadow of the Erdtree. Neither of these are the best Fromsoft DLC tho. I'd still say the best Fromsoft DLC's are between DS3's Ringed City and Bloodbornes Old Hunters DLC. Those 2 DLC's are just built different, but this one though small has great content and all of the bosses are either peak or high A tier. Artorias is my personal GOAT, and is easily one of my favorite character in all of Souls. The real crazy thing is seeing that the Royal Woods is just Darkroot Garden in the past. Artorias' Grave is literally the spot where you speak to Elizabeth. Even all the enemies are the same with just age discrepancies. All the Mushrooms in Darkroot Garden are Elizabeths descendants, the stone golems in Darkroot are all just older versions that while are less aggressive instead limit you as they've aged, then lastly is the Scarecrows who grow up into tangled vines unattended to yet still alive and aggressive.

Gough isn’t actually blind, the townspeople put resin in the eyes of his helmet cause they dont like giants. Also the pendant you got from the room revealed by light is used to deflect the dark sorcery of manus. Sif is also summonable for the manus fight and if you do the dlc before fighting him in the main game theres a new cutscene because he remembers you

Bro really put "Griffin" while it's a Manticore 😭 Since the DLC takes you to the past, the area you run through on the way to Artorias is literally the Darkroot Garden, if you pay closer attention. The dudes with garden scissors are going to become the tree people. Artorias has cut dialogue actually: Whoever thou art, stay away." "Soon, I will be consumed." "By the... by the dark." "You are strong, human." "Surely, mankind are more than pure dark." "I beg of you, the spread of the abyss..... must be stopped." "Ah, Sif. Then you are.... *cough* all of you... forgive me." "For I have availed nothing." Also, if you save baby Sif in the DLC first, and THEN fight Sif in base game, the cutscene will be different, hope you do lore videos and react to that scene as well. Gold Tracer is the highest dmg Dex weapon due to insane scaling and it has a unique left-handed animations unlike most other weapons pretty sure. And some other cool bits - Ciaran and Gough were foreshadowed in the base game. Ciaran's ring can be found at Artorias's grave where you fight Sif, and Gough's ring in next to the Giant smith at Anor Londo.

I see a lot of people struggle with "Manus", but for me he was one of the easiest bosses in the game, except "Pinwheel". I got 'em my first ever try, he's VERY choreographed on almost all of his attacks. Anyone else have a similar experience with "Manus"? I have yet to see any.

There's literally only 4 uses for Humanity in the game: kindling, the spider covenant, holding them to increase your luck/defense, and multiplayer interaction.
