ArtSeason 2021: Modern Dance

This piece is titled "Beast", inspired by the thought that there’s a beast inside all of us - our own persona is the battleground. The dancers’ sleek looking appearance together with the strong accented music and movements may suggest the perfect facade that we strive to construct and put on. Yet, the casual upbeat music used in the second half of the dance portrays our ability to go beyond the superficial level- to let one’s hair down and just have some fun. Through this SYF journey, we got to try unique moves, breaking from the conventional grace associated with modern dance. We were given an avenue to explore a different aspect of dance, and walked away with a deeper understanding of what dance encapsulates.
