ArtsEd Centenary - Nigel Harman: 100 Years in 100 Seconds

ArtsEd was officially 100 years old in 2019!
Throughout 2019/20 we have celebrated this milestone with some of our most successful alumni in a series of videos called 100 Years in 100 Seconds.
In this video, alumni Nigel Harman discusses the ArtsEd reputation that led him to choose our Musical Theatre course for his training, and his sense that he was learning from (and with!) the best in the business. He also recalls his college days being a transition into adulthood and setting him up for his career.
"My clear memory of ArtsEd is the discipline that was taught, which I think has really stood me in good stead. As a director, I'm meeting all of the new crop as they come out year after year. As you look down the CVs as people come in, you see 'ArtsEd' and you know they're going to be able to dance, you know they're going to be able to sing. Nigel is an Olivier Award-winning Actor and Director, well known to screen and theatre audiences in the UK. Credits include: EastEnders, Larkrise to Candleford, Cuckoo, Downton Abbey and much more. Stage credits include: Mamma Mia, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Guys and Dolls, Shrek, and True West. Nigel has directed: Big Fish (Other Palace) Lunch and The Bow of Ulysses (Trafalgar Studios)and , Shrek the Musical (UK Tour).

Nigel's depiction of Dennis in ee was played with human subtlety and longing. When Den messed with Dennis' head over his childhood and feelings for Sharon. This school helped to shape an amazing actor.
