Huge fan of your videos Kats. I was one of the sound designers on this synth, I have some videos up on my page as well if people would like to see more about the matrixbrute (and many other things).

The sound of Ujiie-san's voice, when he activates both filters. Like if he is being naughty. 😀 Anything, the MatrixBrute is something to think about. I like Arturia (as does Ujiie-san): I have the white KeyLab 61 mkII (as does Ujiie-san) and more software than I can shake a stick at.

Building a modular which has the capability of the matrixbrute will cost more, probably twice as much, however the upsides are that you'll be able to create more sounds, and you can upgrade it if you like. On the other hand, you won't be able to save patches. If you are going to spend that much, I'd say get a matrixbrute, and spend another 2 grand on a smaller modular setup to integrate with the matrixbrute. Then you really can't go wrong, best of both worlds.

Can you play multiple sequences at once, each with a different patch setting? Can you transpose the sequence on the fly using the keyboard?
@CockatooDude7 жыл бұрын
You can transpose, and you can only do one sequence at a time.

Hello! What is your experience with the matrixbrute signal noise ratio? You hear any significant infiltrating digital noises or any residual noises? You have any remarkable negative experience about the matrixbrute noises? My matrixbrute is generate a lot of noises. Using with a amplified studio speakers almost impossible on a standard level. The dinamics is very thin and poor, comparing my any other synthesizer. What is your opinion about the signal dinamics?
@EverettDudgeon1387 жыл бұрын
Hopefully the new OS update allows Paraphonic sequencing and sequencing chaining. That's where I think this synth will really shine.
@AdamBorseti5 жыл бұрын
Late reply, but you can already do paraphonic sequences using the seqmod function. You just program a different pitch per step on each vco. You're right, it is definitely where the synth shines. 3 vcos with wildly different sounds, going through 2 separate filters and playing separate melodies! Also, since the seqmod transposes as well, you can write entire chord sequences into memory and recall them easily. It's a tad laborious, but the pay off is incredibly rewarding, and once you save a few such sequences, you can use them as starting points in the future instead of having to reprogram them.

@henrico69737 жыл бұрын
i mean the only downside on this is if the polyphony is not so high
@MadelnMachines7 жыл бұрын
It's not really polyphonic at all since each voice does not have it's own filter, amp etc. It's paraphonic, more like a monosynth with a bonus option.

@siegfriedzhukov71337 жыл бұрын
This thing seems impressive, but why are all the sounds so harsh and buzzy? Is it capable of playing different timbres? I never hear it sound like a moog, oberheim, or anything like that. It seems like it is only suitable for hard edge electronica-trance music.
@Fluxwithit7 жыл бұрын
Siegfried Zhukov check my channel, I do a direct comparison with my moog .
@SoloStuff7 жыл бұрын
As far as I can recall from the minibrute, If you keep all oscillator levels bellow 50%, the filter will stop overdriving and give you a more smoother sound. It's like this by design, they wanted to make it hard and gritty. I don't know if the Matrixbrute has the same philosophy or not. But I think it probably does.
@ogasi17987 жыл бұрын
Siegfried Zhukov there are videos out the with very gentle sounds, have a look around you'll see 👍🏻 Besides, it's an Arturia, not a Moog or Ob etc, embrace the difference.
@siegfriedzhukov71337 жыл бұрын
If you're going to use sarcasm, at least be original. One thing you are not is a musician, that much is obvious.

To me the whole 'matrix' eats up way too much panel space and seems a bit of a gimmick. I think panel space is better suited to performance and creative controls you might change a lot. I see things like 'aftertouch' and 'lfo' -- these are settings you usually set up for a patch and kind of leave. In a performance it might be hard to hit the exact right button to select the matrix element you want. Just not sure about this whole thing.
@ludotex7 жыл бұрын
I think it's actually a great interface feature. Makes programming much smoother by avoiding menu diving.
@Trottelheimer7 жыл бұрын
There's an extensive performance and creative controls section to the left of the keyboard... The matrix is of course an essential feature of the MatrixBrute - and with program changes, sequencing and instantly accessible control of modulations, I'd say that it too is a performance and creative control section in its own right. This design is brimming with win :-)
@ddostesting7 жыл бұрын
I think I need to see a psychologist because I'm quite a synth collector yet I'm still not too enthused about this one. I've got an Arturia Origin, had a MiniBrute (sold it). The sequencer, to me, seems a bit limited for 2017 too. If you're gonna do a sequencer in 2017 I think variable step-length, ability to do poly rhythms, etc... would be such a boost up. I love my Sequentix Cirklon and Schrittmacher. This is not a bad synth by any means, and I respect Arturia for it, but I think they could have pushed the envelope with this matrix a bit to let us make 'new' music.
@NickHchaos7 жыл бұрын
Paul Sop agreed. Everything they make seems a bit passé to me.
@Deeplycloseted4356 жыл бұрын
Paul Sop okay, well who else makes a monosynth with dual analog multimode filters and a 64-step sequencer with step modulation, and huge patch memory? I have an 8 step eurorack sequencer with variable step length, slides, and lots of mod/pattern options....its great, but it cost $600! Just 8 steps! If you want more from a sequencer, use a DAW. Endless possibilities and steps/step length options.
