There's tons of other examples and reviews but I really like this one because of the way you thoroughly go through each section and tweak all the settings. Great format. Thanks!

I've played a lot of different synths and I think the Microbrute is an excellent starter synth. If you can't get started on this instrument then synthesis is probably not for you. Forget the things it doesn't have. It has all the essential controls plus some very fun additional features. I've connected mine to a Moog Werkstatt which doubles the fun.

This review really reminded me why this item is on my watch list. It does a lot for a reasonable price. The demo here is done right - some explanation, then try it out. This is also the first time I've seen how the sequencer works. Good to know.

Heidi Bada Thanks for the comment. The Micro is loads of fun to use. So much stuff packed in a tiny synth.

Good Video, putting Brute through the paces and all the tweaks. I can sit for hours mesmerized with this damn thing, twisting knobs. I learned a few new things especially with the mod matrix. Thanks.

I have one coming, should arrive early next week. I'm really quite interested in its capabilities as a bass synth at this price point, though everything about it is fairly exciting, especially considering I payed less than 300 USD for it in excellent used condition in the original box. While I was researching what synth I wanted to be my first, I didn't see anything else with even minimal semimodular characteristics for the same price. I suppose the Minibrute 2 would be the next cheapest semimod, quickly followed by some rather expensive Behringer reissues.

would you recommend the microbute as a first synth? I really want to get into it and so far the micro seems like an amazing and affordable starter
@CaalamusTube8 жыл бұрын
I own two, would recommend√ Just understand that it has it's limitations. Id est: no Noise Generator, only one ( &1/2 w/the Sub/5th ) VCO & only one ADSR. Also, understand that the VCO it'self is rather unique & more prone to that certain modern sound. This isn't an MS 20. That having been said... it's certainly better built!
@DieMasterMonkey7 жыл бұрын
I would too and for those reasons even. Plus, no presets - learn the way the Oldies did! :)

You said it sends velocity over midi, but it only has a midi input? Or does it send velocity over usb?
@ruigen80463 жыл бұрын
has a harsher sound than the Korg MS20 which makes it a good little brother. The keyboard is great and is a perfect midi keyboard to plug into a DAW. For the price this thing is a must.

I don’t think it has any recording functionality on its own, as far as I’m aware the only way to record with it is to plug it into a computer through an audio interface

I really don't like the sound of this synth, but it has some great features such as the ADSR envelope and the mod matrix is pretty cool too. It's just a shame that the sounds are kinda dull imo.

DoctorWyrm It doesn't have a built in speaker, you'll need either headphones or external speakers. You can use an Amp too.

how do you know what step you're on when using the sequencer. No visual display... very odd. And software needed to extend the sequencer functionality!!?? Arturia shouldve made this thing a little BIGGER and added the extended functionality on the panel... like the Korg Minilog did with the oscilliscope, buttons for the sequencer (8 on the mini, 16 on the mono)...
