A bit of a jam session using an Arturia MiniBrute synthesizer and Fender Jaguar guitar. Recorded straight into Ableton Live 8 with no additional effects on the audio file.

Truth: I bought a minibrute several years ago after seeing this video. Why? To make noises with my guitar playing buddy. He doesn't typically want to jam together and it almost never happens, but not I have a whole room full of synths and got lost in the world of hardware and music. Really, thanks for this video. Not only is what you made together really beautiful, but it motivated me to explore this world of sound. You're both excellent.

hello andrew. i had a question: are you using the sequencer to keep the sound of the synth going, or is it done through the kaoss pad (i generally mean the bassline in the background). wondering what you guys are up to these days, this stuff is cool!

Helium Road - "ambient music requires no drums" - not true strictly speaking. "Ambient music" is not a synonym for "music with no drums" - and simply not having drums does not make a track "ambient". Look up Brian Eno and how and why he coined the term.

this was awesome but a question , how did you get the guitar to loop through the arturia
@AndrewJH93
@AndrewJH93 8 жыл бұрын
+Dino Hi! So we didn't actually get the guitar to loop through the arturia! What I'm using is a Boss DD-7 digital delay pedal with the feedback turned pretty much all the way up. This makes what you play turn into somewhat of a loop, but if you leave it for too long it gets really loud and sounds horrific haha. So what I was doing in the intro was hitting a note very lightly and then allowing the feedback of the pedal to gradually increase the volume of that note, and when it started to get too much I just dialled it back and repeated the process! Hopefully this answered your question and what I said wasn't too confusing haha. Thank you for watching!

Good job ;-) i like your style. Your music reminds me of that of a mixture of "Trans AM" and apparat (or "moderat") :-) It's nice to hear good music made by young ;-) There are still things to be paid but frankly you are on the right track to a fun musical project. As I like to categorize music by genre , I would put yours in the Post -Rock (if accented rock side) or the Electronica ( if you insist on the electronic side). You have aroused my curiosity , so I'll go listen to some of your other pieces. :-) Does your duo has a name ? Be kind , I use a translator :-)

Does a Kaoss Pad function as a Loop Pedal type of Multitrack environment? I feel like I'm hearing as many as 4 iterations of the Brute at certain points.

You should at demos of the KaossPad But as I remember, Kaossilator is a synth and looper, and KaossPad is an effect processor and is also able to loop and to play samples. You can also "loop" your fx

Is it sarcasm ? Maybe i misunderstood the question. Anyways, if you asked for the multitrack loop, I forgot to had that you can store 4 loops on the Kaoss pad (A B C D).
@CaalamusTube
@CaalamusTube 8 жыл бұрын
TheBibi31 Are you asking if my thank you was sarcasm? Nah, I think you got it. I was saying that there is only one Synth in the video... but I hear as many as 4. So I assumed there were loops at work. I wondered whether they were attributable to a DAW, or if this Korg Kaoss thing was the source . You answered that it could be & I thanked you for the info. No sarcasm :]

I'm a real noob in synthetic music and i have a couple of questions. First of,what is the console beside the minibrute and what does it do? How are you switching between all these sounds are they presets or somthing? if so how do you juggle (and jam) with all of them.
@MrSookazz
@MrSookazz 8 жыл бұрын
+MrSookazz And how did you learn how to use synthesizers?
@AndrewJH93
@AndrewJH93 8 жыл бұрын
+MrSookazz Hi! So I'm the guy on the guitar and I'm still not 100% sure what my friend Guillaume was doing on the Minibrute, but I'll give it a shot at trying to answer your questions as best I can haha! The device next to the Minibrute is called a Kaoss Pad which are made by Korg. And it's basically a MIDI controller with a touchpad, it can be used as a sampler and it has effects built into too! So Guillaume is using the effects from the Koass Pad to manipulate the sounds of the synth, to an extent. The Minibrute is an analogue synthesizer, so rather than having presets built in per-se, Guillaume is changing the filter envelopes, wave forms, octaves etc, in real-time! We literally just had a basic idea of the intro and improvised from there on. So both of us had no idea where it was going, and Guillaume had only recently purchased the Minibrute too, so this was very much a chance for him to experiment and figure out what kind of sounds the synth could produce! It's an amazing piece of equipment if you're looking into getting one, very versatile and the amount of sounds you can produce is mind-blowing! I hope this helps a little bit! I'm not very clued up on synths but this is as much as I really know about the equipment used in this vid! Thanks for watching, hope you enjoyed it!
