Adding to an earlier comment that I can no longer find. If you look in 'C:\ProgramData\Arturia\Piano V2 esources\x64\pianoProcessor.dll ' with a hex editor, you'll find strings like "Model D Intimate...Pianoteq 6.0.1/20170912...Model D Intimate" So basically Piano V is a rebadged Pianoteq Stage, a version or so behind Modartt's releases (there are instances of "Pianoteq 5.1.1" and similar in the .dll as well.) Since no other Arturia product uses physical modelling, it is perhaps no surprise that they bought in the tech.

Love the piece! I'm an intermediate pianist but I wanted to get into DAWs. Is the Arturia Essential still a good buy today? (I'm new to DAWs) I would also like to use it to play the piano and not just DAW stuff, but I'm on a tight budget of around 250$ so I'm not sure if I can go for 88 keys either
@InTheMixReviews3 жыл бұрын
Good to hear from you. Of course if you're a pianist primarily, you would appreciate a weighted controller, but if you can't stretch the budget Arturia Essential is a good affordable controller. The small one would limit you as to what you can actually play, but if that's not an issue then yes the 61 key should handle basic stuff for sure.

They both sounded great, but of they were both using the Arturia plugin, I'm not sure what the comparison was. It looks like the Arturia controller had a synth keybed and the Kronos had a piano type keybed, but other than that... I did like the piece you played on the Kronos better though.
@InTheMixReviews5 жыл бұрын
Thank you Lon. The idea of using the Kronos was only to feature the full range of the piano as it has 88 keys as my Arturia controller has only 61 keys. Other than that the audio is coming out of the plug in , so Kronos did not contribute to the quality of the piano, but only to the range.

@InTheMixReviews4 жыл бұрын
@@JamesDory The keyboard itself is good value for the money, especially if you use it with Arturia software. The keybed is weak but that's to be expected from any keyboard in that price range. It's still playable, and totally useful for DAW work...it's just not something that one should get to start learning piano. It's not meant to be your instrument learning device. If you want to use it for synth and daw work, it's a good starting point for a low budget. Hope this helps.

@@EllencyOfficial Yes, the keys on this particular controller are very plastic-ish and cheap...but I don't think they could do any better at this price point. @InTheMixReviews5 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Yes, KeyLab 61 is not exactly the proper controller for playing piano. The key action is extremely soft but you can definitely make it work for recording synths and limited piano ideas. It's optimized pretty well to work with their own software as well. That's not to say you wouldn't be able to use it with non-Arturia products. Arturia does have weighted 88 keys as well, but I've never tried them. It's a great package, if you also go for the V collection.

@InTheMixReviews5 жыл бұрын
Arturia Piano V? I don't think it can compete with detailed sample based libraries such as Ivory but that wouldn't be a fair comparison. Arturia pianos are small in size and load in no time. They're perfect for live performance where you probably don't have a lot of horse power to run CPU hungry apps. It's also great for sketching and coming up with ideas without killing the bandwidth and honestly it sounds good for the purpose it was made. It's totally playable as well. I'd give it a 8 or even 9 out of 10. I've never played Pianoteq which seems to be the standard for modeled pianos. I don't know how different they sound in comparison.
