Thanks for this review. This is a great controller for the price. I already have Analog Lab Pro and Pigments and all the analog synths but I’ve been using the Minilab 3 and it works great, it’s just 2 octaves and it’s frustrating sometimes if you are used to a larger keyboard. I actually recommend the Minilab 3 if size and budget are an issue and you don’t mind the tiny keys.

@Patrick Breen I love it. It sounds great with my synthwave/80s style productions. The included software helps me program patches faster. That was a huge selling point for me. Your review was what helped me decide to get it. Doesn't feel cheap or gimmicky. Arturia makes great stuff

I was gonna get the MK2 earlier this year, but I suspected they might release a MK3 by the next year, so I went with the Minilab MK3 despite its size. It was my first MIDI keyboard anyway, and I hadn't decided yet if I wanted to really commit to using virtual instruments. Coming from classical and folk music, I prefer playing real instruments or fully-weighted hammer action keyboards. And while my experience with MIDI before then was only subpar, I decided to give it another try-and I got hooked! I was not disappointed with the Minilab, it's great for playing fills and looping while I'm playing guitar; great for recording piano parts, and the semi-weighted keys are surprisingly good. It's also an excellent tool for mixing with Ableton or any other DAW, when configured properly. But the included software, sounds, and plug-ins were the real dealmaker for me! The only thing I'd ask for now are full-sized keys and at least 61 keys. And I haven't even finished fully exploring all of the sounds from Analaog Lab V yet, but this will definitely be my next upgrade now. I must say, I am really loving Arturia's products. They get it! I have recently purchased a second hand arturia essentials 88 and have also purchased the analog lab pro, I am struggling to get a great feeling out of the piano, it seems I need to press really hard or persistent if that's the right word. I don't have a sustain pedal and wonder if that may be one of the reasons. it feels like so much effort to get a beautiful piano sound making me think that I am missing something. I have never used a midi before so all this is so new to me. would u be able to point me in the right direction?

Hey! For Piano, I'd definitely recommend more keys. 61 keys definitely works for playing, recording and practicing piano.

I’m still looking for solid controller mapping/integration with Pigments. My KSP can’t map anything to Pigments and I’ve spent countless hours trying to map program & bank change to Pigments from my Novation SL MkIII to no avail.

Yeah I hear that. I wouldn’t be surprised to see them drop a minilab with 37 keys at some point… would be perfect. I will say, the 49 key is featured in most of this video because it fit on my desk nicely. It definitely takes up a lot of space, but it’s doable.
