This concerto is a rare gem. I played it for the first time as a 13 or possibly 14 y.o. kid but it is only now that I can appreciate it fully in this marvelous, ethereal rendition, thanks to Divino Arturo!

I so love the fact that Michelangeli played several works of Haydn :-) There are so many pianists that they never even studied one work of Haydn. That is not good, Haydn was such a great composer.

As a matter of fact, he played only two piano concertos, not much for a composer who wrote more than 50 piano sonatas... anyway, these two concertos are played superbly.

This is HEAVENLY!! Actually the first piano concerto of Haydn i've ever heard, incredible as that may seem, lol!! At his best, as in this wonderful work, Haydn was right up there in the same league as Mozart - well, at least quite close!! Thanks for uploading this deliscious bonbon!!!

well not even close, but higher in terms of music-emotional expression...Everything you hear in his music appears later in Motzart and in Beethoven even more...Beethoven admired J.H. and devoted several works to him.

I find some of the criticism here on Michelangeli's performance harsh. His style of playing may have a certain restraint, but it's certainly not unmusical in my opnion.

Monumental playing, but perhaps a bit heavy handed Beethovian interpretation. I prefer the more Mozartian lightness of Pletnev. Great to have both.

Buiten enkele indrukwekkende details, is deze uitvoering één van de zovele ijskoude, antipathieke realisaties van Benedetti. Geen muziek, alleen noten, robotachtig, als een machine. Wat is de zin hiervan ? Geen.

blithering idiot ! i don`t need anything like a magic interpretation but music ! nothing less than sheer " cold " music . if you are in need of any schmaltzy tearjerker choose a different music-channel . embarking on michelangeli means straightforward abnegation of any sentimentality , yes even of any interpretation whatsoever . listening to michelangeli imparts the experience of a miracle : music by itself !
