Thank you, I completely enjoyed this tutorial and wanted to learn the paper cutout method for some animations for my granddaughter. You move fast but I did it as a split screen on a 13” iPad Pro and got good at hitting the pause button. After the third or fourth time you did one thing, I was able to follow faster. My little trick is to watch at .75 speed so I don't have to interrupt myself to go back. The other helpful thing I try to remember to do is to watch the whole video through without trying to do it first; that way I have some prediction for what comes next as she moves along.

Merci pour votre tutoriel 👌 pour ceux et celles qui l’ignore, il y a une façon toute simple de reprendre les couleurs sur une vidéo… commencer la lecture de la vidéo, mettez sur pose dès que vous apercevez la palette de couleur. Faites une capture d’écran et insérer l’image dans votre fichier Procreate. Créez une nouvelle palette. Ensuite, appuyez longuement sur une couleur de la photo que vous venez d’insérer, ça charge la couleur et ensuite vous appuyez sur une case vide de la nouvelle palette et voilà! Les couleurs ne sont pas identique mais extrêmement proche 😉

I believe that if you had added a lock to the white layers, the shadows would fall on the background layer instead of the white areas. This would create an illusion of gaps between the layers, giving it a seamlessly pasted effect and adding realism to the realism.

When I work on my own illustrations, I frustrate myself picking colors like a young child: Blues for sky and water, green for ground, etc. How can I learn to develop a sophisticated color palette like the ones you create?

When I merge/flatten the background sky layers they all turn dark green. Around 5:41 when she merges the layers. Any idea why?

Don't know if it is too late but I had the same issue and I scrolled the other comments and apparently you need to add a new layer that is not Multiply at the very bottom of the layers before you merge them. If the last layer is a Multiply it causes the green affect. This worked for me.

I do have one issue…specifically with the drawing guides. How exactly did you get it to where you’re only highlighting one side of the trees without it affecting the other side? Every time I try to add my highlights to the trees it affects both sides. Been trying to get it to turn off but nothing.

Question at minute 3:18 in the tutorial, the new duplicated layer is white at first. But, when you do it, you change the color to the green. It changes the layer from white to green automatically for you. But, the layer stays white for me. What am I doing different?

I noticed that too, but I think it was a minor editing slip. I went ahead and dropped the color fill and it came out perfectly fine. Hope that helps!

Make sure there is something below a multiply layer whenever you merge, if you merge a multiply layer that doesn’t have something underneath in the layer stack, then the colors will change

I enter the colour codes manually since I’ve been having trouble downloading the palettes so I didn’t even notice there was a colour missing until this point lol! Hey, for some reason, if I select a layer with the multiply option and I want to merge down with the other layers it becomes like you can look through it to see the lower layers. It's not really invisible but for instance the brown color shines through it. How do I fix that? It doesn't happen when I change the layer to normal

I think I paused the video at least 30 times because you go way too fast. "Pick the monoline" brush, but you already had it available and the rest of us had to search for it while you kept moving along. "Pick such and such color" but I can't download the color palette, so I'm pausing again while I try to find something similar. Then the mistake 3 minutes in and I'm totally lost. I simply gave up. This looks super cool, but I'm darned if I can follow without throwing my iPad through the window. Maybe another day when my house isn't filled with wildfire smoke and my patience is better.

Every tutorial will be that experience. Every single one. You have to go into it thinking it will require lots of pausing, and "double tapping back 10 seconds" a million times. Everyone learns at different speeds, it would be impossible for her to record it at a speed that would work for everyone.
