Not magic[(16x)+144)÷6)]-x. Now product of 16 and numbers 1 to 10 is 16 32 48 64 80 96 112 128 144 which is divisible of 16. 16 / 144 is 9 and we also dividing 16 Into X which between gives a number 1 to 10 and minus the X remains 9. So X + 9 minus x equals this equation above

This is not a trick this is simply maths Let the number be x. Multiply it with 16, it becomes 16x. Adding 144 to it, becomes (16x + 144). Dividing it with 16, it becomes (x +9). Subtract the number you thought, it becomes (x+9-x) = 9. It's just the mathematics you have to understand
