We just came back from Aruba on Tuesday... we had a blast as usual... a few hiccups, but life is an adventure, is it not!?!... first a 3 hour delay at JFK, so we lost half a day because of fatigue and cranky kids... we flew past a huge dumpster fire on our flight in... our dusty UTV adventure turned into a muddy one when a storm came through, not to mention my UTV broke down on the street... it was all fun though... a couple of restaurant mix-ups because we didn't handle reservations ourselves... a flat tire on our rental car... the air conditioning in our rented villa was leaking water down the walll and we didn't notice until we saw a big puddle behind the couch... all that and I can't wait until my next trip there... for some reason you just can't get stressed in Aruba, no matter what happens... One Happy Island for real.

Hello Hans, nice to hear from you and your recent trip here :-) While things sure did not go perfectly it's good that everyone is safe and sound back home :-) Initially we thought the fire was at the dumpster (which happens every so often) but later learned it was nearby. I have some photos of it and it was a big fire indeed. I admire you to have that positive attitude, that is definitely the BEST! There sure are worst things then a flat tire for example. Thanks for watching :-)

Hello Hyro , just returned from your beautiful island on Sept 1 st we drove on all the roads in Aruba from the south to the north from the east to the west, off road, back streets in San Nicolas and Oranjestad through Noord where we stayed and through Santa Cruz pretty much all over. The round abouts are a great way to keep the traffic flowing .My son got the chance to experience the driving in Aruba as well for the first time he enjoyed his time behind the wheel. What a great vacation, missing it already ,can't wait until next year to return . Your video is like a flash back of driving for me thanks .
@LetsgowithHyro2 жыл бұрын
This was fun to read :-) I love when visitors explore the rest of the island and not just laying on the beach for the whole week haha. I'm also glad your son liked his time behind the wheel, so cool! Most roundabouts have been made to avoid (serious) accidents first I would say and second to also alleviate the traffic flow. With this last one it's not always the case but I think if we are saving lived with them it will always be worth it! Thanks for watching.

@@LetsgowithHyro Your videos have been so helpful with the planning of our recent trip to Aruba . We visited many places you recorded . Thank You for that. One question is where is the car scene /drag strip in Aruba? We were fascinated with all the different models of cars there that are non existent here in the US. Some we recognize and many we don't .Thanks for the content. Can't wait to return next summer.

Hello Hyro. First I'd like to thank you for taking the time to show the world your lovely island home. My husband and I just returned from Aruba last night. One of my goals was to see you doing a walking tour while we were on the island. Well, it turns out we did see you. That's us walking past Smokey Joe's at the 24:25 mark. Seeing this has taken an already stellar vacation into a whole new realm of fantastic. You're the best! Love to you and Marlena.

Hello Debbie, no this road was opened in 2019. The refinery has been closed for over a decade and much fewer oil tankers are seen. Cruise ships do arrive almost every week now depending on the season. Thanks for watching.

I made the mistake of walking this (R/T) because it looked doable on a map. Didn't get back to the hotel til after sunset. Lol. Back and legs hurt the next 2 days. Then I made the mistake of taking a scooter R/T the next time. That was jarring and it cost me $40. Each Bus leg is only $2 and there's free wifi.

Awesome Job! We visited June 2021 and drove that exact route to Oceania in Eagle Beach. Being from NJ it was interesting and a little peculiar to not see a traffic light anywhere on your beautiful island! When we drove to Palm Beach we were not sure where to park...free or paid. Maybe include some pointers on where it is safe, legal, and convenient in follow-up videos. We are returning sometime in 2023 and have subscribed to make sure we are up to date with any relevant info you can provide. Thank you for your entertaining and informative videos!

The round a bouts are interesting. I liked the little curbs that show each lane. I had no problem driving around. Any time I saw a license plate with an A on it, I let them go first since they were probably working or going to work. I think that the hardest part of driving was either the gas prices or the parking space size at the rental car return.

Hi Hyro, we stayed at the Hyatt Regency in August. It will be nice when they finish all the road construction in the area. We noticed that cab fare to the airport was $35 but cab fare to Oranjestad was only $17. Thought that was a little weird. Anyhow, we absolutely enjoyed our trip and will be back soon!

Hello Drew, that is a nice resort. They are still not finished, perhaps a couple of weeks away from the final details of the new roundabout. The traffic going in to Palm Beach has been somewhat of a mess the last few months. While I never take a taxi myself (few locals do) I have heard that the fares sometimes don't make sense. They are supposed to be set fares though regulated by the government. In the past there was a talk of a Taxi Meter but nothing came about. Thanks for your input :-) Hope to welcome you again.

That's awesome 😎 It might not fit as a travel guide video, but I think it would be really interesting to see a video about how you got your EV, the process on the island. Talking about charging there (only personal at home EVSE?). Do any rental car companies have EVs? Maybe @OutOfSpecDave1554 would collaborate with you (he would love your electric plane experience). A small island with a lot of sun seems like a perfect place to drive an EV with an economical battery.
