What a beautiful rendition of this song! My family is from Punjab, from both Pakistan and India. My paternal grandmother was born in Pakistan, and her family crossed over in the partition. She and her mother loved this song because it transcends borders and reminds her of the hometown she never got to see again. Truly, the Partition of 1947 divided Punjab and Bengal, but music like this just surpasses all borders.

We should give equal credit to Pawan..Tal deep chandi is 14 beat tough tal for its typical 3/4 movement .. pawan nicely covered it in Guiter.. these long beats are not available in western music... Pawan covered it with 7 beats chord.. after all he is a master tabla player and having great depth on taal and it's movement...

Arunita and Pawandeep ... I am an old man living in the USA. In fifties, I gatecrashed O.P.Nayyer's house to meet him. He and I became very good friends, I visited him every trip I made to INDIA. This was when his hit movie ARR PAAR was released. Never was I so taken by a music director, as him in the process met his wife Raj Mohini, and hit it off with her also. I met most of all the great musicians of the forties and fifties. Believe me, accidentally I started to see Indian Idol 12. I have this intense desire to see and meet both of you. Both your demeanor and talent bestowed by Mata Saraswathi attract me to you. If and when you both visit USA, Please take a little time to visit with me in San Antonio. This rendition of Farida's improvisation one of the best I have had the fortune to have heard. Please make this wish a reality. I promise if I visit INDIA in the future will try to find both of you where ever you are this is my promise, till then I will be listening to you both on KZbin.
